Christmas Competition 2008
« on: December 12, 2008, 06:01:36 PM »
The Emperor is pleased to announce a competition in the run up to Christmas.

Now it may have something to do with his relocation to the frozen wastes, and having to fit a snow plough to his car, but he wants to see some creative writing along the following theme.

Santa in WFB

He is looking for a poem, or maybe lyrics that could be set to a tune, about Santa Claus and his exploits and adventures in the world or Warhammer.

I can be rythmic, it can be rhyming, it can be a saga, and it can be serious or humorous, it can be short or it could be long, and the Emperor has suggested a few ideas ....................

Battling thieving goblins and still delivering the presents on time...............

.... and of course if he happens to have beard that puts Grombrindal to shame, .........

.......and his magical abilities make Teclis look like a novice you could be well on your way ............

Closing Date 24th December - Christmas Eve

There will be a sticky thread up in the Imperial Office for entries.

http://www.warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=25937.new#new

Any questions in this thread.

Santa in the Warhammer World eh?

Let's think about what we know of Santa in the real world and convert it to Warhammer fluff.

1. He lives, year round, in a secret home at the north pole. (The centre of the Chaos wastes.  :icon_eek:)

2. He employs (enslaves) elves in his workshops. (The bloke is in league with the Dark Elves.  :icon_eek:)

3. The whole "sleigh and flying reindeer" theme. (Tzeentch magic?  :icon_eek:)

4. "He knows if you've been bad or good ...". (He has a worldwide network of spies. Possibly in league with the skaven?  :icon_eek:)

Please add any valid points to this list.

Are you suggesting Santa is an all-round bad dude and follower of Chaos?

number 4, I think you could add Tzeentch again, he are supposed to know everything after all IIRC. Conclusion, Santa is a worshipper of Tzeentch :icon_eek:

I would not like to be seen as "anti-santa", especially in today's politically correct climate. I just suggest that Santa's (Warhammer) alter-ego may, in fact, be .... an slightly unpleasant personage.

Please draw your own conclusions.

Yes.

We should get back on-topic.
The competition has only been up for day, and we're already spamming it.  ::heretic::

On with the entries!

What is the prize? (or is it just bragging rights)

Can you take a poem or song that already exists and change it around to suit the context?
You finally touched me in that special way

Here goes...
(To the tune of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer)

You know Teclis and Tyrion,
Ariel and Orion,
Imrik and Korhil,
Mel'kith and Lokhir.
But do recall, the most famous elf of them all?

Santa, the jolly elf lord,
Doesn't live in Naggaroth,
Nor is he from the forest,
Instead he lives away up north.

All of his little elflings,
Loved to sit and work on toys,
They packed 'em all up at Yuletime,
To send to all the girls and boys.

Then one chilly winter day,
The old warp gates broke down.
Chaos might came pouring out,
Invading Santa's town.

Santa and the elves fought bravely,
And the chaos hordes they fled away.
Santa said "we must be watchful!
I know they will come back some day!"

Awesome song XD

Weird. I already wrote a song some years ago called Evil Father Christmas... I'll try and get round to posting it up and linking it... not that it fits the competition rules... but still :-P

I have started one based on Santas debased worship of chaos, but this isn't exactly my strong suit.  Poetry that is.

So.... what happened with this?

Not much.

I think there was very little response - certainly not much that was innovative.

I think we expected some original 'wordsmithing', when mostly we got people rewording song lyrics.

I'm waiting to see if the Emperor has any comments, but he's been a bit busy of late .......

Oh well, thats too bad.  Perhaps something more indepth in terms of the requirements will make something like this more useful next time.

Well I feel a little let down.  I spent a good mornings work time cranking out something to add to the competition and I find out we just ignore it because it didn't get enough attention or original content.

In all fairness, it did say 'reworked song lyrics' in the title.

You do realise that was only one of the options.  I don't realise what your point is in regards to that which you quoted.
