thanks for the great responses! It seems the lancers are next :) I'm pretty excited about painting those.

Ach, no! Paint the bison cav! Those are far more exciting...

Thanks.
Very nice!

Change of plans. Since the first time in almost ten years I've decided to attend another tournament again. That means the bullcavalry will go first. Here are some more close up pics before the paint goes on. Painting will start on monday  :-D

I like the added weapons and wine on the saddles.  Are you going to put and barding on them or any caparison with the iconography on them?  They look stellar so far.

All in all this army is really cool one with a lot of character! Many great conversions and not-so-typical solutions such as the Bull riders! The engineers with pigeons are one of my favorites. Also Pegasus Captain is looking good! I think I shall copy couple of your ideas to my own army immediately...

thanks for the compliments but there's not very much sculpting involved. More just cutting and repositioning plastic bits. But thanks alot :-)

Below is a picture of my first steps. Any suggestions?

Here's te recipe for the fur: over a black undercoat i did a basecoat of Rhinox hide, a layer of 2/3 rhinox hide and 1/3 skrag brown. Then I drybrushed graveyard earth over the darker parts (head and underside) and drybrush skrag brown over the lighter parts. a wash of earthshade over the lighter parts and badab black over the darker parts. Then lightly drybrush with dheneb stone. It's that simple!

but I'm quite undecided on how I should paint the harness on these. Should they be darker or lighter brown than the fur. Or black? or maybe even white and blue to match the army? I can't decide  :icon_confused:

I nearly finished the first demigryph knight. Still have to do the lance, base and shield and three other knights like him.
It's nighttime now so I can't take a picture with natural light

That's awesome!  I'm a little surprised you're not going with an Ostland theme.

I do have one suggestion. Stop taking pictures in my back yard. That stone wall looks exactly like mine. STOP IT.
It's your own damn fault.

Where are those bulls from? They are awesome! Also your sculpting looks great with the fur you've made for the bulls.  Very impressive work! Well done!  Love the bulls!

Strange  my last two posts seems to have vanished

I thanked you all for the nice comments and Raptor, the bisons are mournfang cavalry with repositioned tusks and foreheads.
@Mottdon, there's some ostland colours in there but not predominantly because these are part of a knightly order that has no formal bonds with the state military. Since they are under their own authority they will not wear a state uniform

I didn't get to finish my demigryphs in time for the tournament though. Here's where I'm at so far:

cheers!

These guys are great, are they gonna get shields? Also need a Musician.

I had a couple of comments disappear too, must have been the Inquisition.

The bulls look ace. Your green stuffing and painting of them make t hem look different enough from the mournfang, certainly an intimidating addition to the empire.
