Wow... didn't know there were so many manufacturers of halflings!

Wargames factory is just over 50% of the way to making halflings on the liberty and union league:

I sent an email to Goblin Factory. I'm going to try picking up a small assortment to see what they're like & if they're worth getting more.

In fact, maybe we can use this thread for photos, reviews and comparison photos as well.

I'll have to dig out some of mine. I've got Grenadier, Ral Partha, Reaper and the old GW/Marauder figures. I stripped a lot of them about a year ago. Maybe it's time I paint a few up.

I recently got ahold of a bunch of the old GW halflings from the 80s, and am painting up a unit.  I can post some pics here as I go.  I also have a few battleforge halflings one the way to me in the mail to toss in the mix too...

I love those! I have a little unit of 12 that are among my favourite miniatures.

So I'd like to see pictures of yours.

Hardly a definitive list but definitely worth a look particularly at the halfling models pictured from the 1980's

The Battleforge is in the process of getting his 2nd edition halflings painted and photographed for his website.
The Elector Count Halfling for the Moot is finished and I'm expecting his musician the town cryer to be up shortly.
Black and white photos of metals just look awful, they need to be painted and photographed nicely to see what the model can achieve aesthetically, so after much badgering he is finally getting around to painting and photographing them... slowly.
The 2nd edition are all about the state halfling troops and the models are much cleaner and sharper than the rustic cousins of the first edition.
Coming soon...

Just found these linked from LAF to a blog of a guy that went to the foundry open day:

Apparently foundry is supposed to release them later this year.  They actually look decent in this photo, unlike some recent foundry releases...

Anyone care to speculate on how much the price tag will be?

Very little useable there for a table top army, but they could make interesting additions to vignette.
Better than their recent sculpts.

What are you talking about. They would make a great Free Company unit of Halflings. If I were to ever build a Halfling army those would definitely have a place in it.

Good onya mate.
Talking about it and actually doing it are 2 different matters. :icon_wink:
My halfling units are all 20-30 strong minimum and apart from the few Foundry halflings pictured that are viable as rank and file, I wouldn't appreciate the amount of repetition required to make them a decent sized unit. A sprinkling of the few would be fine but I don't what the scale of those models is like yet.
If there are more coming in poses better for RaF  that might work out well.

Secondly, I still really like the old GW plastics for free company, one of the best sprues ever. That mordheim sprue is wicked.

OK, quick comparison of the Goblin Factory halflings...

First off, let me say that the Reaper figure is one of my all time favorite halfling figures. Moving on... the rest are just some of the few semi-common halflings I could show for reference, as well as an easy to recognize Empire figure, and my traditional Empire photo model/mascot. (The handgunner - I think some names for him were suggested at Warseer, but I don't remember what they are right now.)

Obviously I haven't painted any yet. In general I like the look of them. I like that they seem humble (not as "heroic" as the Reaper figure) but without being a caricature. But they are a bit retro looking... sort of like some of the old (and horribly painted) Grenadier halflings I've got tucked away. I don't know that they compare to the Reaper figure's quality. Maybe not up to the level of some of the other competition, either, but then there is the price to consider. For the price, at least here in the US, I think they're a good deal. The two packs I got were $5.50 for 4 command figures and $8.50 for 6 archers. So I spent $13.00 on 10 figures. Looking at some of the other new fantasy figures... $5 to $8 each. So I guess there's that to weigh as well.

I have no idea if/when their web page is going to be updated to include the halflings. He's also got kobolds as well as the eponymous goblins.

They look ok, it's always harsh on figures to make judgements when they are unpainted let alone up against painted models.
They look a little bit little but with some green stuff to level out the base on top of the slotta base and flocking the might look a little bigger.
I would like to see them when they are painted, especially if you are going to give them the same kind of caring treatment you did on the handgunner. I'm sure they will come to life a lot more. It will bring out the character that is hard to define in an unpainted miniature.
I would have put one of the regular Perry sculpted spearman halflings in there too.
The Reaper is the best proportioned of the options and a lovely model.

The price?
Very user friendly. Really nice price. It's always heartening to see other manufacturers offering deals and fair prices.

Threadomancy at its finest...

Deleted Mega Miniatures, since they sold their molds & shut down.

I also just found Stonehaven. No halflings, but a lot of other varieties of "small folk" that might fit some people's purposes/concepts. Some of the dwarf women, for example, look like they would make good halflings. Or if you don't mind pointy ears, the gnomes would work well. They've really got a lot of character. I really like most of these figures other than the elves.
