Isnt that champion a conversion? I think I have that exact model in my beastman army, but it has a khorne wolf-bone head?

They made both This one is 072130/20. The beastman one has a different sword, the skull, and hooves 073130/1.  There is also one with a spectral lower body wearing bone armour 073130/11

Very cool model, it really deserves the excellent paintjob. I like the restrained colour scheme and the skillfully executed "evil" shield design.

Next up in my undead fixer upper project-

I finally through away all the crappy lollipop-muppet bat swarms I had from back in the day, and got some much nicer figures from Masquerade.

The two on the right hand side come pre-attached, in two little groups. The mile post and crumbled column are resin bits from Fenris games.

The two on the left are the individual variety, that you have to bend and pose and attach yourself. Its fiddly work, but the results can be pretty fun. I think they ended up working pretty equally well both being build up from the ground, and using the Mantic ghoul as an anchor.

This unit has been mostly done for months, just awaiting some final touches on the citadel figs, and some putty work on the leader. After too much time away due to health issues, work, and assorted other other things, I finally got them done.

The 6 regular carrion are all standard old Citadel figs. They only made two riders for them so I tried to mix it up a little with a couple swaps. The monkey is from a Reaper familiar pack, and the neat little skaven dude is a bit from one of the more recent sets. I /think/ he comes with the plastic rat ogre box perhaps, but not entirely sure.

The leader is a heresy vampire that I chopped up and puttied into a flying position. He came out fairly well, and I'm glad I put the effort in and ended up with something unique:

The orignal fig:

The latest in my undead project. I had about 1/2 as many un-finished as I had finished, so rather than paint the new ones and put up with mixed styles, I decided to repaint all of them.  The one nod I made to my original work of ~15 years ago, is the one citadel figure with the red-orange robe. I wouldn't have chosen to do it that way now, but I did it that way then, and since the vast majority of this army is not getting repainted, I told myself I had to keep that one sort of old school choice, no matter how I'd do it now.

Quite happy with this batch.  9 wraiths, and then the reaper figure with no weapons is a banshee to lead them, which I guess is the way things work now.

Figures are citadel, otherworld, reaper, and harlequin (BTD).

This is the next to last unit in this undead project. . . hopefully it won't be much longer before I get back to proper stuff, like armies of men, wearing puff and slash and armor. :)

But thanks for hanging in there with me while I dabble in the dark arts for a while!

I had to take a quick break from my undead to finish off this bad-ass awesome lady as a birthday present for my own bad-ass awesome lady. :)

Britannia, from Rogue Miniatures. Crisp and smooth miniature, a lot of fun to paint.   If you didn't mind puttying over the design in the shield she could do good service in a DoW or other alt/greek style empire unit perhaps.

And now back to ethereal ghosts!

It is halloween after all. ;)

I finally finished my spirit hosts. I'd never tried to do a 100% ethereal figure before, so this was a bit of a challenge, but I'm glad I tried something new, and am pretty happy with the results.

@cjb: 's it me or are some of those 'warriors of the dead'? Also, are some of the banshee models the new Ed. one? 'Cause I don't recall the old banshee having a pair of blades.....

It appears that half of them are the Warriors of the Dead, and the banshees seem to be the ones you get with the Mortis Engine set.

I really like your basing scheme on those ethereals; do you have a formula? Or step by step?
The old wisdom born out of the west was forsaken. Kings made tombs more splendid than the houses of the living, and counted the old names of their descent dearer than the names of their sons. Childless lords sat in aged halls musing on heraldry, or in high cold towers asking questions of the stars.

Correct and correct!  I got the mortis engine banshees as bits of ebay.

I have spares of both types if anyone is interested. :)

Not at all. Funny you should ask in fact, since as I was working on them I thought others might benefit from my experiments, so I actually took photos, and just finished a little HowTo last night. :)

Hope it might be of use:  http://madponies.net/ghosts.html

I also posted it to Steve Dean's forum too, if any of you hang out there.

I really like your basing scheme on those ethereals; do you have a formula? Or step by step?

The basing was pretty simple really- Black primer, then dark brown, just like I'd use for my normal bases. Then a mix of the blue and ivory that I used on the ghosts, then drybrushed up a little more toward the ivory. Then stuck some Mininatur Desert Grass tufts on the bases. Then I dry brushed those with a little blue+ivory, and some pure ivory on the tips, just to carry the glowing blue energy of the ghosts through the whole base.

Hope that helps! And thanks for the kind comments guys.  :::cheers::: Let me know if you have any other questions on them.

Sweet, old school undead, like it alot. Never been to fond of the heavy focus on vampires in the last couple of editions.
