The Leesburg Garrison
« on: May 18, 2015, 08:35:04 PM »
Hi all!

I'm a long time warhammer player, who's finally decided to give the Empire a spin.
My force is based south of the Vaults, in the Borderland. It might be the fringes of the Empire, if that, but frontiers breed hard fighters.

The army is smallish so far, and even less is painted. For now I'd like to show you the Master Engineer of the force - Gottlieb Bosch:

The army, and herr Bosch himself, will get winter bases. Here are some test ones:

Anyway, wish me luck!

Good start, nice conversion, good luck with the progress!

Be sure to post photos as you get more painted. Or converted. Or just assembled & ranked up.

Thanks guys! I've acquired the War Altar last weekend - what a great model! The details are incredible and its a joy to assemble, hopefully it will take the field soon.

The bases were supposed to be round only for tests, but by the looks of things I might be using them for the actual army ;)
cheers,
Lee

I have to say, herr Bosch is quite inspiring. Such a simple kitbash and yet very well done.
Now go! Ride towards the sun atop these noble steeds
You're our spandex heroes, now fullfil your destinies
And so we turned and rode beyond the castle walls
with shiny codpiece armour that doth cradle our chivalrous balls

Thanks! I've finished Volkmar:

The Altar is pretty much done, too. Only the base left. Now that I know I won't be getting into Age of Sigmar anytime soon, I can concentrate on my Empire army.

The Leesburg garrison finally could be mustered to take the field under my command. Two games were played against High Elves. Last week I suffered a crushing defeat, but today the Empire, well, stroke back!

I like your Volkmar model. :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::

And the gray mass of troops in the distance ready to take on the forces they face, gunsmoke swirling under a cloudy sky, it's a great photo! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool:

Thanks for the kind words!

Meanwhile, after getting back home from my vacations I managed to get started on the Demigryphs. They've performed ok in the last battle against the Elves and were deemed worthy of some paint. Its a simple colour scheme but I'm happy with how they look. Now time to do the riders!

I really like what you're doing with your models thus far - the demigryphs in particular look really stunning.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the rest of the project.

now there is an understatement  :icon_mrgreen:

They look great so far and bonus cool points for not choosing the weapon option that'll make your opponent cry.

I love the demigryphs I wish I could justify using them in my army. I also really like your gun crew Im not sure what it is about them, but they look cool.

They are men of the Empire, of course they look cool

Meanwhile, here's my BSB. He's lacking the motif on the banner, I haven't decided on it yet

Great kitbash, great, strong colours!

My own problem is finding designs and time to do freehands on the flags, standards and banners. (And I want to do it that way.)

My other problem is that there's not much point in making more than one standard bearer per roughly 20 models. Would love to copy this one, too.
