Thanks guys!

I did some basing on my Captasus, war machine crews and some archers - still happy with the effect, will continue.

I'd like to share something else today though. With Herr Bosch recently degraded to handgunner champion there's a new top dog - step in Ferdinand Benz, in command of the Leesburg Garrison's finest (and only!) Steam Tank:

His machine still need a lot of work, but the man himself is ready for battle!

aw, the midget tank brings back good memories.

Mr. Benz looks splendid. Now be honest, is he wearing pants and did you paint them?

Yes, he is and yes, I did ;) I was thinking about whether to get the newer plastic behemoth but this old tank has so much character!

I've also been working on some other characters, like this wizard here (Lore of Light most of the time, but I want to keep my options open ;)

Love the colour scheme you used for your steam tank.

Thanks, I'll be trying to finish him sometime soon. Having a bit of a problem with my sciatica but I've managed to assemble some Pistoliers today. What a kit! The details and bits are fantastic - I'm really impressed! I'll be using the Outrider bits to convert a unit of the old grognards from a unit of Bretonnia knights. I've already did some test models, so expect those in the near future. Meanwhile:

Continuing to enjoy seeing the progress of your army! :::cheers:::

And yes, the pistolier kit is wonderful!  It is such a bummer that we won't be seeing more kits and figures for the Empire after they've dumped WFB, but reveling in the old one's is better than nothing. :icon_cool:

Loving the Stank commander! Such a classic model, and a really good paintjob to boot  :eusa_clap:

The Pistoleers kit is great isn't it? So much potential and so many nice bits and pieces for adding character to other models. It's almost tempting me to buy a second box just for conversion bits! Yours are looking great so far!

I've finished the Outriders conversions - still some greenstuff work needed but they're ready for battle. The cloaks and the fact that they keep their miniguns close to their chest really helps to hide their bretonnian torsos. The legs don't look perfect, I'm not sure how to change that (adding some imperial symbols might make it look crowded), so I have to live with that. I've added shield decors from an old men of the empire set to the horse barding, to make it look less bretonnian.

Here's the undercoated champion:

Looking at the model, it seems only proper to take the barding option. The extra save is useful on such an expensive model, but is it worth losing light cavalry status? It is a move-or-fire unit after all... I'll be certainly using both units next time, so we'll see.

Didn't think about that... I'll have to see I guess. We've decided to drop move-or-fire on firearms as a house rule so a lot of my shooters just got a lot better ;) I've managed to finish the first Outrider:

Quite happy with him. The cloak colours are a blatant rip off from someone on the internet ;) I think the winter base works really well with the model - given the heavy cloak and all. Not sure if I should do the rest of the unit or a test model for the Pistoliers next...

Glad I could help - my Altar is in the middle of getting a proper base so you could technically still finish yours before I finish mine  :biggriin: Welcome to the Empire forum, BTW, hope you have a nice stay!

Did you undercoat the outrider in silver/metallic or was that just the light reflecting off the coat?
Now go! Ride towards the sun atop these noble steeds
You're our spandex heroes, now fullfil your destinies
And so we turned and rode beyond the castle walls
with shiny codpiece armour that doth cradle our chivalrous balls

It would certainly have been a much different story if he had the resources that the North had.

@ Syphon - its just the strong light, he's undercoated with regular black.

@ Mottdon - you bet! Still, being the most gallant underdog in military history has to account for something

Time to cut the offtopic then!  :biggriin: Had to do some actual work today so painting Empire was on hold but I should finish a lot of bases tomorrow, so I'll have bigish update then. I've got another battle against the Dwarfs arranged for Saturday - 2k most likely. We'll be testing some house rules - Dwarfs will get to march at triple their movement value and get bound spells on their Runesmiths. I'll get Greatswords with S4. Both armies will have combined profiles on monsters/chariots (the War Altar the only one to benefit, we've been playing like this for some time now - works great!) as well as move-and-fire on firearms - those outriders should do well ;)

Stay tuned!
cheers,
Lee

Yep, there are some ACW threads over in the Count's Tavern/Back Table area where such chats are good to have, rather than poluting a hobby thread such as this. :icon_cool: :::cheers:::
