Buying: Maybe... Depends on new races/models. May go halves on start box.

Playing: Yes, already had 1 very quick skirmish Saturday evening. Will mix and match this game with 8th.

Defantly no couldnt possibly think of a bigger waste of money
Tried it and felt stupid for it. I'll repeat what I wrote in another thread you'd have more fun throwing dice and your models at each other from across the room until someone draws blood.

Buying: Chaos buddy & I are talking about splitting a box = solid maybe

Playing: group will play-test it after our next tournament on August

If it's fun then I'll try to talk a few buddies in our Dark Heresy group into trying it out . . .

Buy: with the 40 € for five plastic dudes? Hell no, even though I like the chaos faction models in the starter. :-(

Play: Will try few games

edit: I mean the price for the new box of five stormcasts is 40€, not the starter set, which is considerably cheap.

This is wrong. The box has 18 Stormcast Eternals and 29 Khorne Goretide models for a total of 47 models.
Also the box includes range rulers, etc.
The boxed sets are far from 40€ for 10 models, but are still way too expensive.

Aye, I forgot to mention those prices are for the new box of 5 models stormwhateever dudes, starter in comparison is cheap.

I preordered.
Getting that much models for both my Empire and Warriors army for 80€ is a steal.

I haven't seen any empire troops in the box

Buying: Not a chance. I'm still trying to find the cash to buy a bastilodon (broke student)

Playing: I was going to. But the 3 people I play with took one look at the rules and said they weren't interested. Now I'm just hoping to get another game or two in of 8th/7th before they sell their armies  :icon_sad:
them are some stupid and ugly ass pieces. Griffons without wings? Sure as hell ain't touching my army.

saw the models today at the shop, after which i completed my pre-order.
The models look really cool, might need some converting to do, should be done anyway.

As for the game, made the agreement i would be playing it next week (now first some exams)
and as the shop owner explained GW is moving back to the roots, where a game should be fun to play. Got the reasoning behind the point system explained, and the some of the other rules.

my conclussion: it is still possible to put out a mass battle, only difference would be rules. It is different and GW needed this for their product.
An other edition would not have benefitted the community, right now you have 3 options to play: 8th, ET, AoS. All three are cool to do IMHO.
Besides how often did you see a true mass battle with WHF?

Buying:  Nay – too expensive

Playing: Possibly.

Will not be buying the box set as there seems little point in doing so. All the rules are supposed to be free online and none of the figures are of any use to my planned Army.

Having used the WFB units as a basis for my various units I will have to look at the WOS Warscrolls and reassess what some of them could be played as, and I expect that as I have used some old rules that there will be units, like the pygmies and Leonard’s Flyers, that don’t have a WOS equivalent (or at least not yet?).

I will also have to look whether to rebase or not and the use of unit fillers.

Buying: yes - have pre-ordered. Having seen the figures in the shop last saturday they are very impressive in the flesh and I want to encourage GW to invest in fantasy

Playing: probably - I don't play at the moment but the simple rules may allow me to cajole a friend into playing wheras the current warhammer rules aren't conducive to quick and fun learning

Polls do work, don't they?

I'd say no to buying, and maybe to playing.

Playing, probably not.

Buying, sort of. I won't be getting any of the figures I've seen, but I will be buying every piece of terrain I have seen so far. I love the look and they are perfect for Mordheim. I also want those blue measuring sticks.

Buying: No
Playing: I will take the new rules for a few test drives, but based on what I've read so far I have pretty low expectations.

Revision. After reading some batreps and watching several games, then re-reading the rules & thinking about what to put on the table for a trial game of my own, I've decided it's just not worth my time. I have other games I'd rather try first. So I think I'll be completely passing on AoS unless some good reason comes along.

Buying: Yes. Already pre-ordered. The models are gorgeous  :x (and I liked the Angels of the Darksiders games...)

Playing: Probably. If I get to meet with some people here in Japan, like Casual  :::cheers:::

Playing No.

I will still continue to buy various GW models that I like though.

There you go - you get one vote each.

Can't find a way to add a second question about trying the game.

Those of you who have voted in a post will have to go back and cast properly in the poll.
