I had heard about it, but I didn't know it was probably bringing mk3 armour.

I'll wait!

The chap I'm playing KT with isn't able to get his Tau together in time for our game so I've quickly whipped up the space marine squad that came with the box. I only realised I didn't receive decals for the marines after I finished painting them.

I gave the specialist with preferred enemy a scoped boltgun to kind of identify him.

Ravenguard, no good transfers outside FW im afraid. They look good though, Crisp. Best get the FW shoulder pads for the RG symbol
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

How fast did you painted those guys? They look really neat. Also are these the new GW bases?

I guess I wont bother with transfers then...

I primed them last night and finished them this morning. Yes, it's the GW 32mm Sector Imperialis bases.

All those minis so fast? Impressive, given the level of detail and quality.

Primed black, then grey primer from above lightly, paint metal leadbelcher, wash entire model nuln oil. Using cotton buds to soak up excess and clean off top areas.

Drybrush metal with necron compound, dot of white in each eyesocket/scope, edge the shoulder pad with mephiston red, then highlight evilsunz scarlet, then highlight wild rider red. Put some fluo green on scopes.

Skin for sergeant was just ratskin flesh, cadian flesh, fleshshade wash, cadian flesh. Plasma coil was white with a guilliman blue glaze.

I forgot the purity seals till the end so those were just baneblade brown followed by screaming skull, and evilsunz washed brown.

Bases were down following a guide in white dwarf.

Basecoat colour primers, washes and drybrushing. Also a black micron pen solves a lot of problems with messing up the white in eye sockets or the red trim going onto the shoulder pad armour.

Yeah, I prefer yours.

With the new Blood Angels releases/repacks soon I've been tempted to try it out of them.

I ended up with 170 painted marines/terminators in my chapter, but god did it take forever.  I estimate my painting style took about 2 hours per model from prime to based.

I would end it all if I were taking that long per rank and file miniature.

I'm glad I mostly play skirmish now.

I've heavily fallen into lately the "Everything must be painted before I use it" mantra, and due to it I've been looking at different ways to paint models quickly and not look too awful. I no longer spend ages agonising over details and just try to get everything painted to "Ok" standards.

Now my Kill Team stuff is done, and my Ork Nobz box arrived (put together my gorkamorka leader, Ol' Iron Jawz), my next stuff will probably by them. Though I am eyeing up the board/miniatures game I recieved yesterday. Devils Run Route 666, a Mad Max type car/bike game. Would that be alright to post here?

2 hours for all 10 ravenguard shown. But they are the exception.

Ive been using chumley's ink method with hair dryer, thats quick and effective.

Best decision I made was to transition to that model, to have only painted models.  It really pushed me to get moving on painting.

what micro pen do you use? I've wanted one for a while.

I do hate the level of random crap they add to models now, slows me right down (looking at you, Skitarii)

As I often say to Ted "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
I don't care about the rules.

Pass the machete.

Dealing in white's and blue's was what ended up making things so hard.  It takes multiple layers and errors really show.  My death watch unit was less than 1.5 hours per model and much easier.

The 3 hour number included assembly.

Finlay, Pigma micron pen #005 0.2mm-black. It often says waterproof, but a friend tried adding washes after the pen work and it washed the pen off, so leave it till last.

I usually get them for around £2.70 on ebay.

Philly, you chose the white life, you suffer as God intended.

Is there a link to the chumley method?

I use pens for some scrolls and honors.

And yes, I did intentionally chose white because I wanted something different.  I love the look but it certainly did take me a while to get a good system down to paint them in a fair amount of time.

Pretty much I settled on white primer, black ink for the shadows, white paint to really get a good cover.

Well I put together my 20mm truescale (or so it says) Devils Run stuff (some of it is still wet).

Just for Philly I put the puppet wars buggy in with them.

How do you like them?

The GW buggies are so damn old that they are a real struggle to work with.  They don't fit the current aesthetic at all.  I'll dig mine out since I don't know that I ever took a clear picture of them.

The puppet wars buggy? I don't. I'd get the Kromlech Buggy if I wanted an ork buggy.

Devils Run stuff is a bit... good sculpts but some of the casting isn't clean and very very small parts (tips of guns bend a lot). It's a lot better casted than the Puppet Wars thing though. Still waiting on my Kromlech Half track.

I found this for you Philly

Half track arrived, put it together. Very good cast, excellent detail, only minor issues.

It's also the right size.

Not very. 2mm at most, and that's only because the bottom part of the flamer curves up to avoid his head.

Amazing drawing. Thanks, that's what it looked like from the picture but I was just curious.

There's some very interesting conversion potential in the kromlech stuff.
