Female Warrior Priest from GW
« on: January 22, 2017, 01:52:30 PM »
Got this model a couple months back. It is from GW and was sold as a 40k inquisitor/sisters of battle model. It was recently on the last chance to buy as well.

I gotta say that upon inspection, I see what GW did.  This model was clearly made for WFB as a female warrior priest. The first clue was the chainmail on the backside. The second clue was the twin tailed comet icons on the hammers.
So GW figured it would sell better if they just labeled it as a 40k model, and it probably competed with the male warrior priest with 2 hammers.  I wish I had known this sooner as I would have bought it like 5 years ago.

This miniature is "Berta Bestraufrung" from the Mordheim Sisters of Sigmar miniature range (=Warhammer Fantasy).

(PS.: This has to be GW's worst naming attempt ever. Was the idea to get English speakers to pronounce the name like the German word "Bestrafung"?)

I swear they re-purposed it for 40k. Or maybe I'm just confused?

What Victor said. She is in the Empire's Collectors Guide.

I would think so.

I picture they do it like this: Decide on an English word to 'translate'. English speaker A (preferably while drunk and/or with a mouth full of food) looks up the German word and reads it to English speaker B. B then writes it down to the best of his abilities. Done.

Mangling German words for names of places and people is a time honored tradition at GW, certainly was around by 3rd edition. I actually quite like that they kept it up until the end of times.

Is that why you wrote Preist in the title?  :engel:

I love that mini. Generally I'd love to have at least two Mordheim warbands in my possession. I already have two Necromunda gangs and they are awesome.

I'm always trying to buy good female mini's to stick in my army here and there for some diversity.  I wish I had seen this one before it became OOP.

The miniature shown is a Mordheim model for the Sisters of Sigmar range, a special character. It is not a 40K miniature, never sold as one, and has never been included in the Made to Order range so far.

There is a female inquisitor/witch hunter model for 40K that was recently on made to order but she was a different model. This one or one like it.

Another (good?) GW model for a warrior priest is the Sisters of Sigmar Matriarch. Comes with either a big hammer or a whip!  :-D

SoS Superiors would also make good female warrior priests.

(( Hey The Peacemaker,

That fig looks really familiar for some reason...

Anyway, as was previously mentioned, the Sisters of Sigmar for Mordheim do make a pretty good set and variety of women-warrior type figs... though some are definitely better than others.

To toot my own horn, I did take one of the zwei-hander mace Sisters from Mordheim, sawed her in half, added some legs, and then put her on a horse.  I named her Paetricia Senatoriae... and, yes, I know the pheux-Latin conjugation will give some people fits.  Anyway, here's what she ended up looking like:

http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php/topic,49950.0.html

So... she works really well as a Mounted Warrior Priestest with zweihander-mace.  The photo of her... not so much. ))

There are some nice figures in the Mordheim sisters and they are easy to convert.
Here's just a few of my Sisters of Sigmar.

These Priestesses are really neato. It's a real shame that GW never released and official, WP female model, even tough they are present in the fluff.

How many sisters do you have scrubber? I was going to paint one up for you, but seems like you have a bunch. Back to the drawing board then!

Strangely enough I never pictured them in white. This is awesome! I have about 20 of them. Was going to use them as greatswords in my sigmarite army.

Hi Warlord.
I have a unit of 20, they fight as Sisters of Sigmar and use that same rules as a free company.
