Well thats all folks.  For now.

I still have a lot to paint and a few things I want to buy to round it all out.

Still have another unit of Flagellants to paint, another unit of Halberdiers, more pistoliers, outriders, knights, swordsmen, crossbowmen, imperial dwarf crossbowmen, heros.  Oh heck I know I have a problem but dont we all?

I know I am not a great painter and my thing is being able to paint quickly to an ok standard that looks good from across the table.  I have owned most of my collection since the early 90's but only started to seriously get stuff painted in November last year.

Thanks for the compliments.

The mounted wizard was painted way back when and at a point when I was starting to get good at painting.  Spent a lot of time at my local gw learning from the painting guy there.  So the sword was always my most favourite part of that model.  Obviously 20 odd years later I have forgotten all I knew from back then.  So my painting is pretty much prime, slap on some base colours and try to be as neat as my eyesight allows, throw on a wash and then slap on some quickshade.  The end result is good enough for me but I dont like the gloss finish.  So once the whole lot is done I will sort out a matt varnish or something to take that down.  Then I can rattle through the bases, drybrushing and flocking to finally complete the army.

I hope some of you get some enjoyment out of this collection and if any of you are based around the south essex area I would be more than happy to play some games of AOS (not that interested in playing fantasy as was or picking up 9th age) and if empire on empire is not your bag I do have a death army too.

Thanks

Michael

You can stow that 'not a great painter' thing 😺. Your army is magnificent. Love that engineer standing on a 'powder keg' or box. Was that a conversion or an actual model?

Feeling housebound. Don't think my head will fit out the door now. ;)

But seriously the camera is flattering. I don't do any of that blending or mixing paint lark. Just straight from the pot and covered by washes.

As for the engineer. He is the steam tank engineer. I have three of them but no idea where the other two steam tanks have gone. Don't remember selling them so maybe they are in a box somewhere.

Not sure if you have the AoS app yet. They just updated with the Azyr army builder which will allow you to organize your armies in open play,  narrative and matched plus all the warscrolls are on another tab, books on another and the rules on another. Seriously recommend it as it's fun to put the lists together as well.

Yeh I have the app but feel more comfortable stuck in the dark ages and holding real paper. I do have the aos books and stuff and have played four games.  For someone who does not get too play too often I find aos easy to pick up after long periods of not playing.

Love books and paper too! Just due to lifestyle, I've had to resort to a lot of digital and it's just not the same. However it allows me to keep in tune with a lot of hobby stuff as all my physical stuff is still packed away. Soon to see light again and I will be going the AoS rout for much the same reason as yours plus I get to field everything I like wether it's crap or crazy. Look toward to more plus battle reports if you can lol

hey, models from the glory days! I am surprised how much a new set of rims spiffed up the war altar.

Nice to see an "old skool" project which actually has a decent number of old minis in it. And I've painted several armies with the neat basecoat + wash method and little more - there's no shame in it when it looks this good  :eusa_clap:

Love the green and yellow reiksguard foot. They look crisp.

I hate people who don't paint their armies, hate them with all my guts. Beats me how they value other things over painting, like eating or brushing teeth.

Old school is best school. Gorgeous looking, OOP army.

Also that Death Wizard is incredible. Is that a GW sculpt?
