Bitz and alternative models thread
« on: June 01, 2020, 05:47:43 AM »
Hey guys, I found a cool website that has some nice bits to use in conjunction with your Imperial Guard regiments. Its called Anvil Industries and they have a bunch of lovely, well, bits. Seem pretty cheap too, in some cases. It all appears to be UK made too.

https://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/regiments

Some of these are really well sculpted, especially the heads! Get a couple of female Ushanka heads, Male Ushanka Heads, throw them on some cadian bodies and you have Cain's Valhallan 597th in temperate or warm weather gear! They also sell torsos, legs, arms, etc, and full models too if you want to go the whole way with them. Why you can make all sorts of IG armies with these bits.

There are some cool rat models, some with bombs strapped to them, which would be great for a skaven army for bases and such and some nice bases in general as well. I found some nice top knots for a possible Sons of Horus 30k army. They have Space Marine and Sisters of Battle stuff too, but they really didn't impress me much. YMMV. The Special Effects bits are kind of cool, like muzzle flashes, flames, etc.

See Fr1day's 40K stuff in this board - he has used their bits and in an IG army extensively

Looks like lots of IG potential there.

Although ... I looked at the character models, and ... might have found the priest figure for the NPC that I am calling Pope Bruno I for the early medieval Imagi-Nations campaign that Artoban, Gankom, and I have started.  They are selling 2 figures in one purchase, plus head and arm options.  I like the human head (they are also selling one with a skull head  :icon_rolleyes:) with the pope hat, and they have an arm carrying a book and another with a sword.  Bruno is a fighting Pope, although I'm not sure I want him to have a blade.  So I will keep looking for now.

Not a lot of space iconography - I use him as a Priest with my Kislev forces

I just renamed the thread so I could concentrate more site that I find in my quest to find more bits.

One great mention is Victorian Minatures
https://victoriaminiatures.com/

They seem to be a favorite among 40k enthusiasts and often makes special models for Adepticon (Warhammer convention). Looking through some of their ranges they provide plastic alternatives to classic IG Tallaran, Old Cadians, Valhallans, and other classic IG armies. They come in both male and female versions for those mixed regiments like in the Cain novels.

Hey guys, I could use some help finding a decent space marine head (un-helmeted). It could be primaris, regular, or 3rd party. I am looking for something that has a mohawk (kind of like a footballer's mohawk and not an 80s punk one) and intending to paint it to look something like Idris Elba. Any kits or sites to check out?

Fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, fanatical devotion to the Pope, and ... nice red uniforms.

Thanks Steg! I just bought the 1st and 3rd sergeant heads you posted. It came up to be about 2 Euros but with 5euro shipping. :/ The only other bits I wanted was the left hand pointing but they were out of stock. Ah well.

Artel W just released some Felinid models for the Imperial Guard. There are 2 alternative heads. One is more like the Khajiit from Skyrim, the other is more like the Captain from treasure Planet. Would make a nice mercenary rogue trader squad for Imperial guard. Perhaps representing a veteran squad and a platoon commander respectively as far as the rules go. Or as a KillTeam.

They're optional, so up to you if you want to glue them to your model or not. Canonically I think Felinids are suppose to look less cute and more creepy. I doubt anyone cares though. They were briefly mentioned in the 6th edition rulebook. Not much is known on what they actually look like, so convert away! I figured Artobans Ghost may get a kick out of them.  :icon_lol:

Interesting stuff! I like the look of the Eldar and even cat commander, although I prefer Treasure Planet head.
