Are you supposed to scrub Reaper minis before painting them or do they need a special kind of paint. The ones I have go 'sticky' after being painted

My usual way is to dunk any miniatures metal, plastic, resin, into soapy water over night, and then rinse.

Reaper recommend that you scrub them with soapy water, basically.

There is a warning that some primers are unsuitable, though I've had no problem using Citadel Chaos Black spray.

Also, water-thinned paints may "bead" on the surface, apparently.

Some vinyls don't work well with a lot of spray paints/primers and result in the sticky issue you mention. I learned this the hard way when I first got into custom vinyl toys. So I treat Bones the same way -- I wash the figures with some water and dish soap, and then prime them with brush on gesso.
