What spray primer should I use for painting the Steam Tank?
« on: September 03, 2021, 03:14:15 AM »
These are the spray primer I currently have

Chaos Black
Grey Seer
Wraithbone

Other than these I know there's a Leadbelcher spray which honestly seems the best one in this situation, do you have any experience with that?

Thanks for the advice.

Is there a certain look you're wanting the steam tank to have once the paint is on it?  Dark vs. bright, metallic vs painted, wood underneath vs. metal, those kinds of things.

No experience here with the leadbelcher spray, although it might be quickest if that is the look you're wanting.

I would say no to wraithbone, Gray seer will give you "cooler" colours overall for your silver, and not be as difficult to paint over like black is

The style I’m aiming at is the regular GW painting scheme, so this:

Grey seer seems to me the best option aswell but the leadbelcher primer seems very convenient for this particular model. However, do you paint over it? Or do you just use it as metallic base color?

I'd spray it black. Applying metallic paints over the new primers is horrbile in my experience. Just something off about that I can't put my finger on, but the metals just don't look good.
