The kit is 10)% all about the new knights. In fairness, that's pretty much whats drawing me to it in the first place.

That'll show my usual Chaos All Tank player I face.

I really want those new knight models. I hope GW releases them separately; I don't want to shell out for the whole set just now

people seem to suggest they are too many points.
I don't care about the rules.

It depends on your general philosophy.  They are basically supped up Dreadnaught.  If you find Dreads aren't super effective then these guys will likely struggle for the same reasons.

they're half the points of an equivalent knight, so 2 of them gives you roughly the same firepower and resilience, more board presence potential for objectives, but lacks the special super walking rules for walking out of combat etc.

Yeah, and thats really the best thing about things like Gork and Morkanauts and knights.  Being able to leave combat, shoot, and assault again is massive.

Walkers are much better this edition, but 240 is a fair amount of points for a jacked up dread.  That being said, I still run Contemptor in my marine army.

Meh, the models are nice, but the rules are average. I think it would be a better idea to invest in a Leviathan Dreadnought instead, or take a couple  of Contemptors.

Can Ad Mech take Contemptors?

As allies only. But I was mainly talking about Armigers being taken in other armies, which, I assume, you can do, just like normal Knights. Right?

these squires are not ad mech, they are knights. So can only be taken same way as contemptors!

I've never actually played with or against a knight though, but think I can buy 2 armed Onagers for the cost of 1 squire. If they had been a bit better I might have had my arm twisted to buy a box and sell everything else on ebay, but my hobby spending is drastically diminished after i've been on strike fighting the man.

But now you can suit up as a knight to fight the man! Challenge him to a game of plastic soldiers, winner gets everything.

If it worked in Childrens TV shows it works in real life right?

I'm more of a collector at this point so I'm not super worried about the points cost. They are a bit towards the expensive side point wise, but currently my Guard doesn't have a great deal of options to deal with some of the super heavies I see on the field. Until I get a few more tanks the Armingers could be useful to go tank hunting themselves.

Contemptors are a little more work to fit in.  You can take a Lord of War formation which carries no penalty for the Squires.  A Contemptor requires at least a Marine HQ to accompany him.

I do not get this rush for walkers, and dreads and knights.

If you have somekind of problem the best solution is always to....

FIX BAYONETS!

Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!

Mathi you havn't stopped to consider the thought of fixing bayonets to the big knights! Charge them into close combat where knights belong! In the Melee!

(Actually everything I've seen about them suggests they wouldn't do well against hordes, so focus on charging the big stuff.)

Put some chainsaws on those bayonets. Everythings better with bayonets and chainsaws.

There are actually chainbayonets in 30K. My Alpha Legion uses some of them. :biggriin:
