Pleasant Surprises VI
« on: March 30, 2013, 09:37:35 AM »
For the 6th year running now, I have organised a miniature exchange through this forum.

Time for a new one.

The system is like this : First, you enroll in the exchange by replying in this thread.
By April 30 or when we reach 50 participants, whichever comes first, I secretly pair each participant to a recipient.
You receive the name of your target through PM, do some research on the person, and try to come up with a pleasant surprise for that person.
Then (so only when you are ready to send the mini) you PM me for his/her adress AND IMMEDIATELY SEND THE SURPRISE ON ITS WAY.
Since getting your request for the adress indicates you've done your part, the sending immediately is very important.

If, for some reason you are unable to send internationally, please indicate that when joining.
If you should see someone join who has not delivered to you in the past, please PM me before I make the list.

BE WARNED : There is no way at all for me to make sure everyone gets a mini, short of asking you for money and refunding it when you send the mini. I don't want to do such a thing, because I firmly believe each of you should be capable to live up to his/her promises, and if you don't, I quite frankly think you lose more than you could ever gain by cheating yourself. Unfortunately, it has happened in past events that people, for whatever reason, did not receive anything. Minis get lost in the mail, people disappear from the forum, etc... Disturbing as that is, the real joy in this event can be found in the giving, rather than the receiving, so if you participate you will most certainly have fun, I can guarantee you that much.

Looking forward to a pleasant mini exchange..

DEADLINE :November 1st 2013.
If you haven't sent by November 1st, I start poking you.

I will have another go.   I would prefer to ship within North America if possible, so long as its not too complicated for your ordering of things.

Can I make a request for all participants in the exchange this year? Please, please, please inform 'Soth if your address changes - as some people last time had packages which went astray because of old addresses.

Just a thought, perhaps to ensure the immediacy of the shipping the PM sent to you for address must include a picture of the completed model, this way in case it is destroyed in the post we still know what it was and can lament its loss, covers the base of how often folks forget a pic before they ship in case the recipient disappears on us, plus well just more peace of mind?
