What is "Fantasy", Wissenlander? Do you take the widely held definition of "Orcs, Elves and/or Dwarfs of some description; plus an optional amount of magic" or do you apply that term to any made-up setting that is not high tech (and therefore does not fit into the other huge drawer, "science fiction")?
Because it doesn't really fit the former very well. And this makes it thoroughly worth noting that people who kind of expect that kind of stuff from a fantasy novel will not really find what they're looking for in those books.

Wissenlander is getting cynical and facetious.

I blame the internet.

But he doesn't do it very well yet, thank god. I blame the lack of practice. May he stay that way.

I don't like fantasy.
I like some, but the ones I like I don't like for the sake of having classic "fantasy elements", if you know what I mean.

Finlay ask him if he can get an autogramm from sean bean and I will personally kiss your feet at the next Eurobash.

Could you get Gendry into Warhammer?
I knew him at school, and he was pleasant enough to me, but we weren't friends (none of the same classes, different half of the year). He is now friends with people who I was friends with, but haven't spoken to in about 4-5 years. so, no.

Is it full of political intruige and everyone wanting to kill everyone?

I've read about a quarter of the first book, and it's already like that. I quite like it.

It's quite low on annoying fantasy things too.
That's what I said! it is treachery and Greed.

Tyrion is my favourite.
I don't care about the rules.

Pass the machete.

They have Brizzoltastic accents.

Also, none of the scenes in Bristols "posh" bit are in Bristol.

Are they not? I saw lots of places I recognised in series one.

The posh bit of Bristol is Clifton, surely. I used to live there... sort of... on the edge... over a fried chicken takeaway shop.

To be fair, being Bristol, that is pretty posh.
I thought he should act responsibly and just kill himself.

The "posh" bit of Bristol is infact in Portershead according to Skins. But they do spend a bit of time in Clifton. They went to a big wood in one of the series and it was actually in Clevedon.

I saw the blonde stupid one with a wierd name when I was out clubbing the other week actually.

Have any of you guys read the 'Fortress' series. I am quite enjoying them.

IMO, quite good political intrigue.

It is, but its not.

The most that magic is used (at least besides the 2 battles) are simply just discussions about wards and warding, and also about the 'Grey Space' which is just kinda like being able to communicate to others with wizard gift within the ether, and to detect any magic funny business.

There are the two stories running side by side.
- Tristan, who was 'created' by a wizard, and gifted in magic, prophesised to be king in the North, perhaps a reincarnated king of old. Interesting, but also not.
- The other story, what I find more interesting, is the Prince / King who has to deal with all the mismanagement and bullying from his fathers reign, trying to get his marriage over the line with the rules of the other provinces of the realm, the tense confrontations, the meddling of the religious, the conspirators against the thrown, etc.
