Prayers and combat.
« on: February 05, 2025, 06:47:08 PM »
Is there any reason why a priest's prayers can't be cast on units in combat. As far as I can see it just says a unit within the priest's command range.

You can cast in in and out of combat. Its not a spell or shooting. So you have no restrictions.

I might be in the minority here, but I actually think a fairly vanilla sigmarite priest is worth the investment in a large unit of knights.
As said above, he can always test for a prayer.
The ward against shooting while advancing is great, the re-rolls in combat are great. It really helps against rubber lance syndrome.

And I am aware that I could simply add 3 more knights, but they may not be able to attack anyway if the unit is too large.

The warrior priest of ulric could be better. -1 to be hit is really strong when most things hit you are being hit on 4+.
Also double wounds are worth a lot more than 3 more attacks.

That said 5+ ward is really strong against shooting and lets your knights close the distance.

Tbh I think these priests are hidden gems and overlooked by the community. Just double up on the priests you want and depend on one prayer at a time the 2nd prayer is just bonus. The priests by themselves are not bad combat wise so doubling up isn't so bad and not a big waste of points.

There is some pretty strong combos like illusion mage with signature and ulric prayer plus bedazzling helm on combat guy. That's minus 2 to hit and reroll 6's to hit.

He is not bad. Twice-blessed blessed armour and charmed shield and we are off. Its just sad he have no good infantry to be with.
