Hello all,

The Old World has brought me back after not playing since 6th/7th edition.  Using the current miniatures I own I put together a 2000pt list and looking to get some input.  For context, I have no experience with playing this edition yet.

I am a big fan of infantry but it seems that the current edition does not favour an infantry centric play style.  My main concern is if I am utilizing my hero choices well.

For Heroes, I went with two level 4 Wizard Lords on Pegasi as based on research Wizard Lord on Pegasus is the way to go.  Figured I would take advantage of the low cost to get a Level 4 and have two of them.

Instead of having an Empire General on Imperial Griffon, I opted to have two Captains on basic Griffons.  One is BSB (War Banner) with Talisman of Protection and the other one is a barebones Captain.  I figured a General on Imperial Griffon will not be beating Heroes on Dragons so I decided that having two Capts on Griffons would work better at attacking flanks or weaker foes in general.  BSB can also fly two where it would be needed.  Great Cannons can focus on taking out the big nasties. Not sure if I should move the Talisman of Protection from the BSB and give it to the second Wizard Lord with the Ring of Ruin instead.

The Engineer would be with the Great Cannons.  Probably doesn't need the light armour.

For Core I went with a 24 block of Spearmen with shields.  Would be flanked by detachments of halberdiers (veterans) and handgunners.  Another unit of handgunners to stay with the Great Cannons.  Couple units of Archers for skirmishing.

For Special, two Great Cannons to focus on the big things and a unit of Demigryph Knights as another damage dealer.

I saw your post on Reddit also, so I'll try not to be too redundant!

I don't think the independent unit of Missile troops is worth it.  They just don't do much.

Drop the armor of tarnus for the White cloak, or the talisman for White cloak.  White cloak is just better.

Drop the light armor on the other missile troops.

Try to get a unit of knights in there.  If you have drilled on your knights they can move incredibly quickly.  You need 6 so they can form a marching column.

As mentioned on Reddit, your pegasi have very few places to hide.  Another unit of knights helps that.  It also might be worth dropping one pegasus and making the other a spellslinger (see commandants post).

Good luck!  I miss the good ol' 6/7th edition days!  Let us know how a game goes.

Thanks for the feedback!

True about the independent Missile Troops unit.  I just have so many that it feels weird not fielding more!

Great point about the White Cloak.  I did have it on an initial list on a General and must have not realized it is available to other heroes as an option.

I have been playing around with the list and made one of the Wizards on foot with the block of state troops and adding Empire Knights.

Really hard to fit all the iconic Empire stuff into a list!  Once I get get some movement tray adapted to be inline with the new basing sizes I will try out some of the lists!
