Catchin' up with the Cap'n
« on: March 30, 2012, 08:35:34 PM »
Greetings from beyond the void!  :::cheers:::

Terribly sorry to all my good friends who haven't heard from me for a while, I've been negligant, and I appologize profusely.  I have been overwhelmed with real life, and my work told me I was spending too much time on here and not enough time working so I had to go cold turkey for a while, but now I would take a few minutes to pop in and let you all know I'm still alive, and doing fine.

A couple of quick updates:  First and foremost, my wife and I have recently opened a very successful bakery in our small town.  I'm actually quitting my job at the end of April to join her there full time, which is most excellent.  If you happen to be passing through Coldwater, Ontario stop in and see me, I'll be there Tuesday-Sunday starting May 1!  Needless to say this keeps me very very busy, as did the start up.  I haven't played a game of WH in over six months... worse than having a baby!

Before I had to quit playing, I did start dabbling in 40K... I've got a small WAAAAAAGH building ever since I learned how cheap their trucks were, and that you could plow them into other stuff... pretty much what my army does, which is six kinds of fun and 4 kinds of awesome.  Also, the Death or Glory rule is totally my style.

I celebrated my 5 year cancer free aniversary last July, which was awesome.

I think that is all the important junk.

Anyways, I'm not back here full time by any means, so I haven't had time to scroll through the site and see any changes, or go back and check the news and goings on, so please somebody post some updates of all the good and bad important stuff I've missed in this thread, I will check it as frequently as I can.  I'm hoping that once I get to work at my store full time I will have a bit more time to spend on here and can return to being a contributing member of this place.

I'm on this thing called Facebook now, I don't know if anybody has heard of it, but I don't use it much either as most of my free time goes to sleeping since we got the store, but maybe we can be friends on there too.  :-D

Also, sometimes I check my email (acidwashedhero at hotmail dot com) so if anybody wants to hit me up on there, I would be thrilled.

I'm hoping this is the slow but steady start of my return, but bear with me if I am sporradic in posting... I sure have missed this place.

So enough rambling, just glad to be back, and I hope I can do the tour of this place sometime soon and get reaquainted.

 :::cheers:::

Tineal! Long time. I just assumed because of my lower particpation rate the past year meant I hadn't seen you much.

Glad to see things are well - especially the bakery - very exciting!

Hey, I just looked on the map and you are only a couple hours south of me!  I would pass by Coldwater on the 400 every month or two when we go to visit my wife's folks.  How close is your bakery to the highway?  If you folks have a website or something, I could stop in and buy some baked goods next time we pass by.  :smile2:

We specialize in awesome!  Seriously though, my wife is amazing at what she does.  We're pretty famous for our pies and buttertarts (a Canadian desert, similar to pecan pie) but Rita also does awesome 3d cakes.  www.pieceofcakebyrita.com is the website.  We also do a really good soup and sandwich for lunch.  I'll post pics up of the place sometime.

How close is your bakery to the highway?
It is in the downtown of Coldwater... so basically the only street there, which is just a quick hop off the highway.  Do stop in!  Don't feel obligated to buy anything though... although you are seriously missing out if you don't... especially if we happen to have a cheesecake or raspberry mango pie, possibly the most awesome pie ever made.

Me and Wissenlander had babies!

not together.

Congrats boys!  Glad you managed to pull that one off seperately too!

Good to see your still alive Midaski, though I didn't doubt you would be.  Technically I don't get to eat the cake, but I do occasionally make them (but I leave the decorating to the boss, she's better at it.)

Who are you?  :?

Well I used to live on here almost as much as Wiss, and Warlord, but I had to take a sabatical for a bit.

Wow, everything looks so good on the website!  I hope I can stop by next time I head south, wont be for at least a month though.  I might gain a couple pounds by doing so...

I love butter tarts.

I celebrated my 5 year cancer free aniversary last July, which was awesome.

I celebrated my first year cancer free by running, or what looked like some sort of gait, and it felt super.

I know the feeling.

As much as I love to see people savoring underwear, I didn't seet the pic until now. Keep in mind that up until recently I was taking months off of W-E at a time. You look good, though.  :::cheers:::

It is what all the cool kids are doing.  :-D

Thanks for all the well wishes fellas.  I sure have missed posting here... I've even had dreams about it if you can believe it.

So I'm so out of the loop, I didn't even know we're getting a new book.  The new models look pretty sweet.  I'm not terribly fond of 8th ed. so I may focus on my 40k WAAAAAGH until the next one rolls around... unless they're getting a new ed. of that, in which case I'm totally lost.  Once I'm done at my job I will be able to go out on Monday nights again and get back into the swing of things a bit... possibly even with some $$ to throw at my dirty little plastic habbit once again.
We also do a really good soup and sandwich for lunch.  I'll post pics up of the place sometime.

Me too!  Partly why we decided to put them on the menu.  I made this really awesome roasted tomato & sausage soup on Saturday.

Oh, I better slog along to the library and see if Wiss finished that awesome story he was working on before he went and had a baby and probably lost all his writing time!
