What Miniature Games Are you Playing in 2019?
« on: February 27, 2019, 12:36:51 PM »
As the title says ... What Miniature Games Are you Playing in 2019?

- - -

The start of the year has seen me play two games, one each month.

There was a game of Romans versus Sassinids using a combination of Swordpoint and Saga.  Quite a bit of fun was had!

And a game of Thrust of Bayonets, Battle of Bunker Hill.  Thrust of Bayonets is a new AWI set of rules that hasn't been published yet, alhtough I am told it is to happen soon.

GP's Ongoing Tally Of Games for 2019
Swordpoint/Saga ... 1
Thrust of Bayonets ... 1

2 games of 40k.
4 games of kill team.
1 game of Blackstone Fortress.
1 Game of Muskets and Tomahawks.
2 Games of 8th edition Fantasy.

Most of that was just over the long weekend we had recently, the rest of the new year so far has been a bit barren.

Well I bought Kill Team, does that count? Am a bit miffed that you can't make a standard 100pts list from the Genestealers Faction models though.

My gripe as well, fighting with them versus the included ad mech is an up hill battle (though not impossible)

So far I've played 6th ed Warhammer Fantasy, both r&f & skirmish. An Empire outpost in the Badlands got ravaged by Orcs & Goblins. But not without serious damage to the raiders!

Then I've played with my daughter (or provided & assisted her playing): no rules but lots of story. It's always nice to see my collection of civilians, dragons and bears on a nice miniature arrangement. :-)

I plan to run some sort of campaign, probably using Hail Caesar (Shadow Storm) and/or Kings of War.

I also think I'd like to paint a Dwarf warband for LotR, using my collection of Mithril miniatures. If I get it done, I might actually try out the game.

Then I was asked to give a talk in the local con about combining RPGs and miniature battle games in a campaign. Some months to plan the talk, and to gather & re-arrange photos to show during the talk. I'm honored and excited!

This year I've started noting down what I play each month, so this one is easy!

4 games of WFB 8th edition - running a mini campagin with my buddies, me playing goblins, with HE, WE and Skaven for the other 3 players. It's incredible fun, I've missed warhammer so much!

1 game of 40k - getting an old friend to start playing again. We've used the new city fight rules and I feel they improve the current 40k ruleset greatly.

4 games of blackstone fortress - it's pretty good, although the fortress run took us 5 hours and it's really hard to do an exploration run under 2 h. I was hoping the game would play quicker.

1 game of Malifaux with my better half - getting her aquainted with the rules. Probably gonna get another game in a week or two.

All in all plenty good stuff going on this year, getting at least 3-4 games per month.
"All right... we'll call it a draw".

Impetus 2nd Edition

Care to talk a little bit how it went?
I find Impetus a very interesting game, but still haven't tried it out. Hope to play it with my 15mm army - when I have it painted.  :-D

My tally thus far:

WHFB 6th ed: 1
WHFB 6th ed skirmish: 2
Kings of War: 2
Warlords of Erehwon: 1

Plus a dozen roleplaying sessions.

I've always enjoyed Impetus.  Have played Basic, Impetus 1st Edition, and now Impetus 2nd.

I think the 2nd edition seems to be an improvement, and I enjoyed the cards aspect of it as well.
