But still, there was enough flavour to build upon, and at some point in 7th they were playable....

GW is sacking the Tomb Kings. This, combined with Brets and Beastmen, means that 3 factions of original WFB will kick the bucket. Oh well, at least we have Ground Marines... :icon_rolleyes:

I don't know where you get this from, but Beastmen atleast is still around in the Chaos Grand Alliance battletome and on the GW site (under a few seperate subfactions)
Brayherds & Warherds

And Bretonnia is still in the air what will happen to it. I agree the future doesn't look good, but we still need to see what will happen with the Free People

They are supposed to be gone until the end of the year. Beastmen and Brets always selled very poorly, and weren't exactly popular with the players, same with Tomb Kings.

The decision to split from vampires was odd, tomb kings were always an odd army (weak), and the string aesthetic of ancient Egypt was a bit out of place for the mediaeval fantasy feel of old world.

It made sense at the time. They just didn't make the army as exiting enough and multi thematic as the Vampire Counts who had a bunch of cool bloodlines. I rather liked the idea of a cursed kingdom unable to rest in peace and the undead fluff was some of my absolute favourite fluff in the setting.

they'll surely incorporate some ideas of brets into "free people" though, so Brets are about as dead as dwarfs, empire, etc are.

I have a feeling that the Free People will consist solely of the Empire. Brets were always GW's least favorite faction, as they were just generic, King Arthur-like knights with little originality. I hope they'll stay, just like I hope that they'll keep Beastmen, but we shall see.

Anyway Tomb Kings were always cool. I liked the idea of two, different undead factions. It really add a lot to the game for me. Now that TK's are gone... it sucks.

Hmm, I still have a couple unopened boxes of Tomb Guard. If BFG is any indication I better hang on to those and sell them in a couple of years for their weight in gold...

Which reminds me: I've just read that they might do similar thing to Empire, Ogres and Wood Elves. Basically I think they want to get rid of all the factions that don't fit the AoS (Stormcast/new Chaos) esthetics. Also aren't the Wood Elves basically gone anyway, with more emphasis put on the forest spirits?

Of course this could be bull, but it's GW we're talking about and I would not trust the brain parasites that took over their management.

I bought a Steamtank earlier this summer just in case something like this happened. I should get around to paint it after I finished my Space Wolves.

Yes, Mathi said the Wood Elf forum is dead due to focus on spirits.

I consider dwarfs to be dead, in comparison to the fyreslayer things they just released.

I have no idea how they will AoS-ify the "free people" aesthetically- most people collected empire precisely because they were not bombastic and OTT.

@Xathrodox86

I'm still not sure how you get the idea that some stuff gets shafted.
- Beastmen, they are in the current range of Chaos, and prominently in the fluff (Realm of Life) and as they are currently in the range I do not see them going any time soon.
- Ogres, still need to be seen on the range, but also several mentions in the fluff, especially in the Khrone Battletome, so very likely that most will be kept. Also they got several pictures strewn around in the books

-Wood Elves, could go either way. In conjunction with HE and DE it's a wait and see what will happen.
-Empire, we jsut don't know, we have seen: Flaggelants, Warrior Priest and the War Altar in the pictures. There is at least fluff coming now with a human tribe in the "The Realmgate Wars: Bladestorm" series. How they will give it form with or without Bretonnia will have to be seen still.
Some items from Bretonnia I consider options to see back: Trebuchet (feels better fit to the fluff for scattered tribes), bowmen, men at arms, reliquary monks (still people venerating sigmar?), my best guess would be a merger of both into something a bit simpler and more faith oriented.

And Dwarfs, they will get a steampunk upgrade and keep most of their range. as has been rumoured already.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

The beastmen are in that tome, but it dosen't mean they can't get the axe. GW can reason that if anyone would want a Beastmen force in AoS, then they would use their old army, or buy some when AoS started. Like I said, I think it's the case of esthetics. They want primarily to push out their new, premiere stuff - Stormcasts and new Chaos. Old stuff is old, i.e. no longer important. Look how long it took them to give the free folk any consideration at all. Also I don't really believe that puffy sleeves and 14th century French-English knights fit into the whole... "theme" of AoS.

Ah yes they can but, I would not be so sure about it. I think they (beastmen) will be kept at least till somewhere in 2017. If not I owe you a beer on the Eurobash 2017!

Well, I was finally gonna see the new Star Wars movie today, because I finally had a convinient day off and they stopped showing it just today. I was gonna see it during the week, but I started taking a new ADHD medication that just fucked up my mood and sleep entierly for most of the week, so I wanted to recover a bit before enjoying a movie at the cinema.

Oh well, I guess I will just watch it at a friends house when it's out on bluray. He does have a HD protector and a surround system, so I will at least get some of the cinema experience. :closed-eyes:

Thanks. I am feeling better now. It was just a shaky first week. Sleeping 3-4 hours a day for 4 days in a row was kinda taxing. Thankfully, I can sleep more properly now. I'm just annoyed that I picked the one day they stopped showing it.

That sucks Ursa. Good to hear that you're better tough and don't worry. The new SW will look almost as good on an HD set, as it would in cinema.

Right now (11 at night, in the cold) there are several guys in next door's back garden in just their boxers, having some sort of weird party. It's never girls who do this sort of thing, is it!
Hey, I could still beat up a woman!

If anyone did it here I would probably have to call for an ambulance because I would have to assume that they are high and possibly freezing to death in the cold winter night.
