Got 3 hours sleep because I had to write a paper on the different ways you can make a Constitutional law argument.

And I have a major immigration law presentation Wednesday.

And a 10 pager on the legal limits of the presidency's ability to fight the war on terror within the US due Friday.

And I have to attend a lecture on US tariff law today which means I won't be able to start that 10 pager until Wednesday at the earliest.

Kill me now...

Edit: Didn't see jlutin's post. That's more than a little funny...

Let me just say it...

I hate the Federal Government, it's employment laws, Administrative Law Judges and lawyers in general.

Same. Different Federal Government, but still.

This week we had a glimmer of hope for an actual leader returning. Instead we are stuck with an administrator. Once the election comes next year, we will then likely get a idiot.

Why we get stuck with the two worse options as leaders of our adversarial political parties, while the two better, more moderate options can't get the support within their corresponding party's is beyond me.

BTW...
So sorry to hear about all this terrible news everyone. About the same time I read about CoD's friend, my fiancee's co-worker had a child die of SIDS.

Hopefully Turnbull will knock Abbott off before the election. Remember as shaky as Gillard is, Abbott was One Vote Tony. He's not the Liberal messiah, or even just a very naughty boy - just a moron.

I'd vote Turnbull and I've never voted Liberal before. Haven't voted Labor since Gillard took over, and haven't voted it in the state since I can remember.

Hoping the same. Turnbull would be my pick if Rudd can't pull Labor together in the next 12 months, and even if he can, I would still be sceptical of his permanancy.

I haven't voted Labor since either (the old blank vote option most recently), and have voted both ways in the past two state elections (latest being towards liberal).

Didn't Randy Marsh once say that all elections come down to a douche and a turd?
In 2007 it wasn't. Well at least on one side.

My rule is to say all the candidate's names out loud and the one I find least pronounceable gets my vote, usually an independant. Last time it was a Greek guy with about 20 letters in his surname (state) and before that an Indian guy in the federal. Just prefer it to blank voting. My rule doesn't apply if it forces me to vote for an extremist party like the Shooters or Socialist Alliance.

Of course that's for elections with only crap candidates. Rudd got my vote in 2007, resoundingly so.

On topic, some of the things here are so tragic that talking politics numbs the brain comfortably to help deal with it all. Very sorry for all the various losses/hardships. There's been some really bad ones in here recently.  :icon_frown:

Oh, this particular situation is 100% what Obama's installed leader of the department was hired to do.  He is enacting presidential polices and union desires perfectly.

The spring is coming too damn early! Me and a couple of mates had planned to spend a weekend cross country skiing and chilling in the sauna. Guess that's not gonna happen :C

Did you have your presentation today? What happened?

My friend got his exam results back: 16/20. So, my summary seems to have clarified things.

My portable hard drive died this morning...and I had over 1300 hours of shows and movies on it, not to mention about 3 gigs of old Warhammer stuff that you really can't get anywhere else.  Makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it, since I won't really be able to get it all back...

Well as you must have the original copies of those movies and series it will be lots of work but you will manage.

The Warhammer stuff is bad but I guess you can find people on this forum who have the data and might share it with you.

I don't have the originals anymore, as I had a former roomate take them... :eusa_wall:  I might be able to get them again though.

The "worst" part is, I would use it to "watch" tv while at work for some white noise so I could concentrate better...now my ADD is kicking in since I can't think about anything else but getting it fixed!  Arrgh.  :icon_evil:

Is it totally unretrievable?

I have had my PC 'die' and the local computer wizard has managed to save my My Documents with all my work and hobby stuff.

Sometimes the motor or the drive stops - it doesn't mean the information has passed into the ether.

Well, I think I may have found a solution.  It turns out the micro USB port broke, and I may be able to just purchase a new case for about $25 USD... and just swap it into the new case, but it may or may not work.  Checked into Data Recovery, and it is a minimum of $300.00 USD, so for that price, I can get a new hard drive.

Now I just need to sell my warwagon so I can get a new case...

300$     :icon_eek:

My local guy would have a look for free and then probably charge me for his time and how hard it was to retrieve/repair.  I think last problem I had cost me around £30 (50$ ?)

 :closed-eyes:

That's for sure, I am finding more and more that is the case.  The local place that does data recovery has a bench charge of $286.00 USD (214.94 Euros or £ 179.52) minimum, so actual data recovery could increase from there.  I have heard horror stories of it costing approximately $900.00-$1500.00 maximum.

And while we are on a "rant" about "The rich get richer" in America...The company that handles our phone/internet/ tv shut it off because it was overdue by a couple days, but did so without warning.  I asked if I could make a partial payment just until Friday, 2nd of March, and just turn internet back on.  They said no...so we had to wait all week without internet or tv.  Oh well, get paid tomorrow.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys...

So, I am looking to sell off some Empire stuff in order to "upgrade my technology".  Keep your eyes on the Trading post.

You live in Michigan, right? How close to Ann Arbor? I know how to do data recovery. For that much it'd take weeks, but it would be free.

A good friend of mine recently got married/pregnant. This isn't a bad thing, but it makes me feel like I'm in a time-crunch. That I need to find "the one" ASAP because I'm at an age(28) where people are marrying/permanently shacking up. What if the perfect girl for me is getting married to someone else as I type this?

As long as I'm complaining about matters of the heart, why am I a magnet for religious/prudish girls?  :icon_mad:

I am about 10 minutes from Ann Arbor.

I am checking with Sunset Computers because they said they had a new case that would work that they can put it into.  So, about $25.00  If that doesn't work, I will definitely let you know.

If you could do data recovery, then I would definitely throw some good Empire mini's your way!  The other issue is what to do with the data that is recovered.  My laptop only has like a 250Gb hard drive, of which only about 29Gb is free...which is why I needed the external hard drive in the first place.  LOL

For every story where someone finds "the one".  There are 10 more stories of "I wish I hadn't gotten married so soon"

For me, I love my wife (some days more than others, and we have been married for 8 years)  I was 29 when we got married, and there are many days when I look back and wish we hadn't.  (No freedom for example)
Just hang in there, I know it sucks when all your friends are married, and you are just sitting there wondering when/if it will happen to you.  But the bottom line is, just go out and have fun.

As far as the religous/prudish girls...I can't help you out too much, except, don't look for dates in churches or libraries.

Seriously, the religous/ prudish girls are the ones that "you want to take to meet the parents" and usually are high maitanance after marriage.  I find the more liberal girls with some good morals are the ones that are the most attractive...
