Hello,
I am the new one here and I want to show my Army of Hochland! :smile2:
The Name of my army is: "Das Kurfürstliche Garde-Armeekorps von Hochland" = this is German because I am from Germany. :-D
The English translation for this title is: "The Electoral Guards Army Corps of Hochland"
I started the army in 2009 and the decision for a province was at once Hochland ... of course! :biggriin:
I like the short official story of Hochland, so I can tell my own story of my army and of Hochland. From the beginning it was very important for me to tell a short story about every unit and every hero of the army.
Parts of the army are painted and the other parts waiting for paint.
In this blog I want to present my army of Hochland. At first the painted models, then the unpainted and then the progress of painting.
I want to apologise my English that is not so good, but I hope you can understand me! :icon_biggrin: All the little stories of my army are written in German. So I have to translate it and that's hard work for me! :icon_mrgreen:
I hope you have fun and you will enjoy my blog!
Best regards, Heiko
Stand and fight with the blessings of Sigmar there is nothing that can stop the Electoral Guards Army Corps of Hochland!
... but this is written on an other page of history!
-
welcome dude :::cheers:::
-
Thank you! :::cheers:::
Now I will start! The first pictures and stories. :biggriin:
Captain Waldebrand von Falkendorf
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170619/8j4bmzhe.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Captain Waldebrand von Falkendorf is one of the most famous captains in Hochland and he has the honour to be the standard bearer of the Army Corps.
He is proved in many combats and battles. He is also a specialist in motivating the troops.
The other noblemen are very enviously of him because they think he is a favorite of the elector of Hochland.
On a hunting expedition he saved the life of his elector in a short combat with some orcs.
He shouted a challenge to the attacking orcs but they fled after Waldebrand killed the orc-boss.
Aldebrand Ludenhof, the elector of Hochland, was so impressed by the heroism of Waldebrand that he granted the right to bear the standard of Hochland.
But no one can tell Waldebrand von Falkendorf a favorite of the elector because the most time of his life he cares for the people that live on his land in Ahresdorf.
He is a native nobleman and not a courtier.
The Witch Hunter Companionship of the Holy Clarification
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170619/j2iyir3i.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Witch Hunter Companionship of the Holy Clarification exists of three witch hunters.
Not that much is known about them.
It was a heart’s desire of the elector of Hochland to have the witch hunters in the army corps.
Every witch hunter fights for himself and the other soldiers of the army corps avoid them because every soldier is very afraid of these fighters against the morbidity.
This fear is absolutely justified! The least suspicion on witchery ends usually on the stake!
… let us end these conservation now … they are looking at us!
-
Welcome!
I love your yellow waller buildings, and photography in front of scenary is excellent.
Backstories are very entertaining Waldebrand is a little cheesy, but he is a BSB so thats ok.
I like the way you painted the middle witch hunter. Don't think I have seen him like that before.
-
Willkommen and nice start
-
Witch hunters not wearing black? Unusual but I like it :)

Quote:
'… let us end these conservation now … they are looking at us!'
Ha! 👆
Agree about the middle witch hunter. Great model!
-
I always thought the not-German empire stuff was very tongue in cheek. I.E Boris Toddbringer= Tod being German for 'Death' :eusa_clap:
-
Very much like the running Witch Hunter on the left. Nicely kitbashed pose! :-)
Also the scenery & yellow buildings have character.
-Z
-
Thank you very much for your kindly compliments! :::cheers:::
The witch hunter in the middle is one of my favorite models.
In painting I have some ups and downs :biggriin: ... but I try my very best!
... and my photographs are not the best - I try to make some new pictures. :icon_idea: :icon_mrgreen:
If you want I can post some pictures of my terrain!? I don't know if it is ok to post terrain in this blog here?
@ Warlord: What is a "BSB"? :icon_eek: ... my knowledge about English abbreviations is very small! :-D
@ Rowsdower: Yes, I agree! :-D Some names and titles sounds very funny for German speaking people. I think that makes the charm of the Empire.
It is very nice to be here in this forum - I like it! :::cheers:::
-
I have made some better pictures (I hope so! :icon_mrgreen:) of Captain Waldebrand von Falkendorf and the three witch hunters:

Yes! Post some terrain as well. I don't think anyone will mind 😸

Looks like a great start, congrats! :icon_biggrin: :eusa_clap:
And welcome to W-E! :::cheers:::
-
Im glad to see a new brother in arms in this section, its cool to see some other glorious Hochland troops over here! Our province is the best, of course! :biggriin:
I really like all your presentation and your first models. Aldebrand Ludenhof will be proud of you!
What is a "BSB"? :icon_eek: ... my knowledge about English abbreviations is very small! :-D
Battle Standard Bearer.
And no problem for your english, its prety good actually, so keep going the good work! Welcome on the forum! :::cheers:::

Great models there :::cheers:::
On the subject of not-German stuff. Is Bertha Bestfraurung a translation of 'Best frau'='Best woman' or something like that?
-
Isn't her name Bertha Bestraufrung?
That could be spelled be-strauf-rung or maybe best-rauf-rung or even less likely be-strau-frung, and those are the components where you could search for further meaning. Don't see anything meaningful there. 'Best' is possible. Wouldn't say a German speaker hears 'frau' in there.
Clearly inspired by the German word Bestrafung - punishment.
-Z
-
The name is Bertha Bestraufung and I think it means the German word "Bestrafung". :-D
As Zygmund tells us: Bestrafung means punishment :::cheers:::
... I don' want to meet this sister of mercy ... :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
-
The official GW name is Bertha Bestraufrung - which does not as such exist in German. Whether it is supposed to be the Reikspiel version of Bestrafung is rather dubious. There is an old German word "straufen/streufen" (related to streifen), meaning "to strip." It could also be used to mean "to skin, to flay," as well as "to roam" but with nefarious intent.
A. Fabricius, Theatrum Diabolicum (1575): "Aber ein verleugner gottes ist er, und eine rechte grosse häuptsünde, der unglaube selbst und schlangenkopff, den gott auch weidlich zu streuffen und zu straffen weisz."
But he is renouncer of God, which is truly a great cardinal sin, atheism itself, and a snake's head, whom God knows to flay and punish thoroughly.
-
The Witch Hunters are awesome! I like that standard bearer a lot. Great stuff.
-
@ Fidelis von Sigmaringen: Thank you for this interesting explanatation!
@ Xathrodox86: Thank you! :::cheers:::
... and now ... two more heroes of Hochland: :biggriin:
Warrior Priest Albuherus Güldenschein
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170621/57h8w8xq.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170621/caewnktj.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Albuherus Güldenschein was born in Hochland and at the age of one he was chosen to be once a priest for Sigmar.
After twenty years of intense education he came back to his home country and lives at the court of his elector.
A battle or war without him is unthinkable for the elector and the soldiers of Hochland.
He bolsters his fellow comrades in the battles, he prays to Sigmar and he doesn’t avoid any fight.
His bravery and his flintiness against the foes of the Empire are famous in the whole Empire.
Warrior Priest Alfons Quarkenstein, „The Ensouled”
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170621/5ibt59iq.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170621/sdsvued2.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Alfons Quarkenstein was not born in Hochland. He is a so called voyager.
Already in his childhood he travelled to holy places and read every book with the theme “Life and look of Sigmar”.
Actually today we can see him always with a book in his hands and he recites permanent holy prayers.
Externally he looks like a well-kept, gentle and cultured man but better you should not argue with him or laugh about his discreet tips for motivation.
He is well known for his unbreakable fighting spirit and his flintiness in all cases.
-
Thanks for clearing up the Bertha thing, guys. Sorry for wandering off topic. My German is kind of clumsy as i learned most of it from comics
-
@ Fidelis von Sigmaringen: Thank you for this interesting explanatation!
My pleasure. I would not expect GW really to have thought of this, when they made up the name, but whom the shoe fits... As it happens, I found this poem by the Meistersinger Konrad von Muskatblüt (ca. 1390 - after 1438), which also fits the Empire very neatly (small wonder as it is modeled on the HRE). In this poem, Konrad rails against the heretical followers of Chaos Huss (husa=goose).
Heiliger vader babst zû Rom,
kunyg Sygemont do gnug dym stam,
ir kurfursten helffent dusen sam
uerdilgen vnd zu streuwen!
all geistlich fürsten und prelaten
helfft uns die junge genslin braten,
daz si verliesen yren atem,
so mogen wir uns gefreuwen!
wan si sint werlich gar zu fluck;
kund wer sy recht bereuffen
die plumen von yrem ruck,
so wulden wir sie dan strauffen.
Holy Father, Pope in Rome,
King Sigismund, rise to your ancestry!
You Electors, help
To destroy and dissolve this seed!
All spiritual princes and prelates,
Help us to roast the young goslings,
That they may lose their breath,
And we may rejoice!
Since they are really too fast.
Announce who is prepared to pluck
The feathers from their backs,
And we would then skin them.
Meistersinger or not, I fear there was not too much lost in translation...

Before I will post more pictures of my army I decided to show some pictures of my terrain for Warhammer.
I like to build and paint terrain because the terrain makes a Warhammer game great! :biggriin:
At first here is the watchtower and the chapel from GW.
I don't want to paint them old and scruffy. So I painted the houses in a yellow tone.

Looks very good! :icon_cool: :::cheers:::
-
Very crisp, very oldhammery. I love that building. Splendid work! :eusa_clap:
-
Indeed.
-
Very German 😸! Hope that doesn't qualify as a stereotype lol
-
Thank you for your fine compliments! :::cheers:::
I reflected a long time about the colours before I painted the buildings. Everyone in my wargaming group painted the houses dark and scruffy but I wanted some buildings in "my" Empire that looks more new and kempt. :icon_mrgreen:
@ Artobans Ghost: ... yes! :icon_lol: ... I think the tower and the chapel looks very German! :biggriin: ... or even very Hochland - Hochland the province of prosperity! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

Master Wizard Wahnfried Dusterhall
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170625/ygidkmpy.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170625/9pfdsfaz.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Wahnfried Dusterhall is a master of his profession. He rules the lore of death and he is a master at the academy of magic in Hergig.
Dusterhall is a loyal henchman of his elector and he has no friends beneath the noble-men or other wizards. This is the reason for his bad and scary reputation in Hochland.
Nobody knows him really but everyone tells horrible stories about him. Only his loyalty to the elector preserved him of banishment or worse things.
Many rumors are told about Dusterhall in Hochland. One of the stories tells us that he saved the life of the elector at the battle of Düsterau. The elector received a bad wound from a beastmen shaman and only Dusterhalls knowledge about the death saved the life of his elector!
But what was the price for this? There are rumors that Wahnfried Dusterhall gets the permission for access to all dungeons, prisons and graveyards to continue his dark magic experiments.
If you try to approach to Dusterhall or have a conversation with him you can notice that the cold fingers of death grab you and a scary cold clasp capture your heart!
Wahnfried Dusterhall’s presence on the battlefield is very welcome by every soldier because his deathly magic spells are a great support.
But in the times of peace is his presence at the academy of magic everywhere balefully perceptible.
By Sigmar … it is good that the times of peace will not last long!
Wizard Anselmus Zehrenstein
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170625/zyxor33i.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170625/bdi783jj.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Anselmus Zehrenstein is a wizard of the light order. He is a member of the academy of magic in Hergig too.
Already in his childhood it was noticed that he became a wizard when he grow up.
This wasn’t the burning desire of his parents because they wanted that he became a warrior priest. But his pronounced magical skills showed everyone what his future is!
Directly after the completion of his training at the academy of magic the elector took him into the service of the Guards Army corps. The elector trusts in the oppositeness of different magic orders in his army.
It is not surprisingly that Anselmus Zehrenstein never before had a conversation with Wahnfried Dusterhall. So there can be some misunderstandings in battle!
-
Excellent colours on their robes. Really like the blue especially. Nice fluff as well. Dusterhall is and interesting Spector. The fact that he has no friends below a certain class is cool.
-
Realy nice buildings and wizard! :eusa_clap:
-
Great way to convert the IG Astropath. Cool wizards!
-
Thank you all! :::cheers::: All your nice comments are a great motivation for me! :::cheers:::
Now it is time for the painted troops!
Infantry Regiment „Town Guard Hergig“
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170626/5alpyirj.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170626/y28qgvqm.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170626/6cl534ja.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Town Guard Hergig is a part of the state troops of Hochland and the soldiers are regular soldiers proved in various battles.
The regiment has versatile duties: Protection of the town gates, manning of the town walls, retention of safety and order in the streets of Hergig and the protection of the elector’s palace. Of course they serve in every battle or war for Hochland.
The Town Guard wears the colors of Hochland, green and red.
They are armed with halberds and you can find them at the center of the Guards Army Corps.
Two departments are attached to the Town Guard to support the regiment in battle.
The leader of the Town Guard is Feldwaibel Walter Brunnenbauer. He is a veteran of many wars.
-
These colors look really good on them. I love the uniformity of these chaps. Very cool looking unit.

1st Department of the Town Guard Hergig:
Black Powder Riflemen of Kaltgrund
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170627/6folxdmq.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170627/4ww2pdn8.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Black Powder Riflemen of Kaltgrund are a much disciplined department of riflemen. All men are volunteers and former regular soldiers.
After their retirement from active service within the rifle troops of the Empire 55 years ago a small group of veterans founded a shooting club called “The Marksmen of Kaltgrund”.
Because of their excellent firing at the “Cock o’ Hergig Ceilidh” the elector noticed the reservists of the shooting club at their 50th anniversary “Schützenfest” (fair featuring shooting matches).
He decided immediately to form a department of riflemen from the shooting club to support the Town Guard Hergig!
2nd Department of the Town Guard Hergig:
The Citizen’s Militia of Hergig
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170627/v4tdsqnj.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170627/r9nhg4sh.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Citizen’s Militia of Hergig consists of volunteers from all over Hergig. You can find every occupational group in the militia.
The militia mobilizes only in wartime and their duty is the protection of the flanks of the Town Guard Hergig.
But everybody in Hergig knows the militia for their weariness of life and their bold behavior.
To act tactically is not their best profession!
Here is a picture of the Town Guard Hergig with departments:
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170627/ex5f34sg.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
-
Wonderful!!
Quote :But everybody in Hergig knows the militia for their weariness of life and their bold behavior.
That's where you'll find me! Where is the recruitment office?
-
Lotta respect for Hochlanders - this province breeds tough men and women.
-
Do not look for the recruitment office ... the recruiters will locate you at the right time! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
-
Those gunners look very.....sharpe :eusa_clap:
-
I'm glad to see how every unit has its own personality and background. Good job!
-
It is my pleasure that you like my troops and their stories! :icon_redface: :biggriin: Thank you!
... and yes ... I am a fan of Richard Sharpe and his green machine! :icon_mrgreen:
Infantry Regiment „Bergsburg Guards Regiment“
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170629/k4fg7v5i.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170629/eyxm3y6o.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170629/fv6ly5cu.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Bergsburg Guards Regiment is an infantry unit that consists of the best sword fighters within the region of Bergsburg and district.
The men of the regiment are regular soldiers and the regiment is part of the state troops of Hochland.
The nickname of the Bergsburger’s is “Bergsburger Schluchtenjodler” (yodelers of the valleys) because of their permanent blatancy of being a regiment from the mountains.
But it is better for you and your health not to explain them that their “mountains” are only a couple of wooded hills!
Two departments are attached to the Bergsburg Guards Regiment to support the regiment in battle.
The leader of the regiment is Fechtmeister (fencing master) Ferdinand Waldberg.
-
That pink is glamorous! I also love your backstories. They're incredibly fitting. :smile2:
-
1st Department of the Bergsburg Guards Regiment:
Bergsburg Musketeers
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170701/nmnlcgv6.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170701/q5qlg8d8.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Bergsburg Musketeers are a department that founded for the attendance and support of the Bergsburg Guards Regiment.
The riflemen are regular soldiers and they saw themselves as mountain riflemen. They emphasize that any time and everywhere.
There is a tradition in the department to submit an application to the general administration of the elector of Hochland every year. In this application they want to rename the department to the title “1st Hochland Mountain Rifle Department of Bergsburg”!
The general administration refuses this application traditionally every year!
-
Ha! 👆
Nothing beats tradition 😺

Infantry Regiment "The Invalids Regiment of Hergig“
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170702/jamcvcvs.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170702/jhbavjp4.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170702/vyageqs9.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170702/zyn9vtiw.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Invalids Regiment of Hergig consists of old veterans and convalesced soldiers. These regular soldiers are no longer completely ready for action.
From the view of the medical expert staff there is no way to deploy the regiment in the front of the Guards Army Corps. So the Invalids Regiment of Hergig serves in the so called second line to protect the war machines and the line of communication. This is at least the official statement of the Elector’s staff.
Actually the soldiers of the regiment are commanded to the Invalids Regiment of Hergig on the personal order of the Elector!
Every older veteran who has problems to follow orders and attacks in every situation get this special honour to serve in this regiment.
When you can see the Elector in a battle looking to his back, he is searching for the Invalid Regiment.
If you are lucky you can hear him pray: “Oh Sigmar! - Don’t let them attack now, please! - Don’t let them destroy my fine plan of action again, please!” … and then you can see the deep desperation in the face of the Elector!
To keep a lid on the regiment … oh, sorry … the leader of the Invalids Regiment is Feldwaibel Bernbrecht Ochsenzwinger. He is an old veteran of many wars who is known and popular for his achievement in modern and contemporary personnel management.
-
This is the first time that I see a unit, made from enfeebled soldiers and I like this idea immensely. Things like that really build up the atmosphere of an army and I salute you for your great imagination and background building skills. :::cheers:::
-
Your painting pace is terrifying!
The name of this lancers unit, not... :icon_lol:
-
Thank you! :::cheers:::
But my painting pace is not fast - the painted troops I show here are painted some times ago! :biggriin:
In painting I am not fast ... I am more comfortable! :icon_mrgreen:
Actually I started to paint a new regiment of riflemen ... but it is summertime in Germany ... the most of the time it is too hot to paint ... it is a better time for the Biergarten! :::cheers:::  :icon_lol:
... and I like my Invalids ... you should see them on the gaming table ... all the plans I had with them in a game are obsolete after their first movement! :eusa_wall: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
When I play the first time with new troops I had immediately some ideas for their background stories ... and these stories are not always respectable for the troops! :biggriin:
-
Quote:
it is a better time for the Biergarten! :::cheers:::  :icon_lol:
Aah... fond memories of my brief time in Munich for October fest.
Love the background fluff. The invalids is fantastic. Just imagining an entire regiment of my father 🙀

Great job on those regiments. Yellow and pink are pretty hard colours to work with :::cheers:::

How long did it took you to paint those? Veery nice. :smile2:
-
I needed one and a half day for these riflemen - including all the breaks for the drying of the colours and the glue.
Actually I need about 5 to 7 hours without greater breaks! :biggriin: ... but I prefer the more comfortable mode of painting ... with greater breaks! :::cheers::: :icon_mrgreen:

Rifle Regiment „The Sharpshooters“

The Rifle Regiment „The Sharpshooters“ is a regiment with traditions.
For more than hundred years only sons of fathers that served in this regiment can join the ranks!
Unfortunately nothing is known about the formation of this well approved rifle regiment.
But rumours has it that a poor occurrence happened at the formation. In this occurrence sheep play a vital role!
But it is better to keep silent!
The leader of the regiment is Master-Sharpshooter Hugobald Flintstock. His personal weapon is a Hochland Long Rifle.

The Ranger Cohort of Flaschfurt is a militia unit that consists of elderly, seasoned and in military service experienced townsmen.
Despite of their position as a non-regular troop the Elector counts on them.
The Rangers had extensive experiences as scouts and they had many successes in battles.
The leader of the Ranger Cohort is the professional hunter Alfons Brunnenputzer.

Love the green and grey. Especially the green tone on the rangers. I have only 7 of these oldschool guys.

Thank you! :::cheers:::

This project is ticking along nicely. You are doing a great job making the christmas color scheme not, well, christmas-y, in particular on your current handgunner regiment. Also enjoying the German names. Keep it up :eusa_clap:
-
Thank you! :::cheers::: I like the combination of red and green - that was one of the reasons I started an army of Hochland. :icon_biggrin:
But I never thought on a christmas color scheme  ... but that is a very funny idea! :biggriin: :icon_mrgreen: :::cheers:::
Ranger Militia of Selmigerholz

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170710/kkgp3vtl.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Ranger Militia of Selmigerholz consists of men with different professions from the region and the town of Selmigerholz.
The volunteer hunters are experienced because of their service at the borders and their ambitious scout training.
The leader of the Ranger Militia of Selmigerholz is the professional hunter and mayor of Selmigerholz Franz Holzhofer.
The striking yellow feathers on the hats of the Rangers are very important:
After some woebegone experiences with collateral damages during their service at the borders it was ordered by Franz Holzhofer to wear striking yellow feathers!
His motto therefor is: “It is better to be a little bit colourful in the forest then get a hit of an arrow in your chest from your own comrades!”
By the way - Franz Holzhofer is a real pastoral philosopher!
-
Quote: By the way - Franz Holzhofer is a real pastoral philosopher!
He does also seem quite pragmatic about camouflage as well 😸
-
As a hunter without any armour you need some camouflage in the forests of Hochland ... but do not turn your back to your hunter comrades ... it could be dangerous in battles! :icon_mrgreen:
The next riflemen are ready! :biggriin: ... now I have to paint "only" three more riflemen and the next regiment is ready for action! :icon_biggrin:
... at the moment I am very motivated to paint! :::cheers:::

Knights of the Order of the White Hills

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170713/37auni6w.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Order of the White Hills is an order of knights that exists since many hundred years in their preceptory Castle Schippel.
From this place they took part in every campaign and they subordinated directly to the Elector of Hochland.
But in the Guards Army Corps serves only a part of the order because the remaining knights in Castle Schippel are the last protection force of Hochland.
The knights of the Order of the White Hills are cavalry specialists in mountainous and wooded area.
In spite of their heavy armour they are very mobile and they are not afraid to ferret out an enemy in the depth of the forest.
Knights from other orders call them “The Golden Boys from Hochland” because of their golden armour.
The leader of the action force of the Order of the White Hills is Balduin von Dunstigfurt.

A new regiment in my army is ready for action: :biggriin:
Rifle Regiment „The Riflemen of Lüthorst“
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170715/px89xyel.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170715/3l6kjj88.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170715/swsrcob3.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Riflemen of Lüthorst consists of regular soldiers. They are famous for their special armament and their special experience.
Only citizens of Lüthorst and district can serve as riflemen in the regiment. They must have the retirement age and must be in rude health. Every soldier also must be experienced with the “Lüthorster Büchse” (Rifle gun of Lüthorst).
The “Lüthorster Büchse” is an invention of the Lüthorst Huntsmen Club.
This special rifle gun combines firepower and penetration power of a normal rifle but the rifle gun is more smallish and lightly as a normal rifle. (There are rumours it is better for the older riflemen!)
Because of the elitist selection criteria it is difficult to find junior staff for The Riflemen of Lüthorst.
Leader of the regiment is Hergobald Lummstick, the former night watchman of Lüthorst.
He prefers to carry a Hochland-Long-Rifle but the rifle is too heavy for him.

Looking very good! :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
-
I like the green barding on the knights. Not a common sight. I like it very much.
-
Your rifleman champ and drummer are splendid. The close ups do them well earned justice 😸
-
I like that old-timer feel of your guys. Really interesting and really, really cool!
-
Just updated about this project, German names fit perfect with the Empire stuff.
In my opinion to make your own army with their unique development is one of the best parts of wargames. The characters and regiments are looking good and I enjoy their charm stories! Keep going!
-
Thank you very much for your nice compliments! :::cheers:::
This is a great motivation for me! :icon_mrgreen:
I like to write the stories for my units and the heroes. :smile2:
I work also on an armybook for my army. In this specialised armybook for the Guards Army Corps are no new or special rules but I like to have an armybook especially for my army! ... ok, there is one new unit of Hochland in it and I will report about it soon! :icon_mrgreen:
At the moment I work on a militia regiment but it is not very funny to paint in the heat of the summer. :biggriin: I hope I will get some of them ready today! :icon_mrgreen:
... and now it is time for more terrain: :biggriin:

The Mortar Battery of the Artillery Regiment “Kurprinz Konrad Ludenhof” is under the command of the son of the Elector.
The use of mortars is well proven in the well-wooded regions of Hochland and it became a passion of the Kurprinz. (His father is very angry about this passion because he wants that his son get a knight!)
The Kurprinz counts on the mortars and he refuses the requests of his father to establish canons in his regiment very steadfast.
Beneath the officers of the Artillery Regiment are rumors that the Kurpinz cannot run canons effective. He shall not be able to estimate and to measure correct distances.
-
Great job on the mortar
-
I really love the red wheels!

:::cheers::: :::cheers::: :::cheers:::
At first I tried to paint the wheels green but red looks better! :icon_mrgreen:
The mortars are real good war machines because the most time I have them in service is against the Orcs & Goblins of my wife ... big templates are nice on goblins! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

I will show you the unpainted troops and Heroes of my army soon. :smile2:
But now I will show again some of my terrain! :icon_mrgreen:
At first there is a tower with a small graveyard and a chaos tree:

Love that terrain! Specially that graveyard, and the well, and the temple and the ... I guess you get the idea 😺

Thank you very much! :::cheers:::
I like to build and paint terrain ... some times I like it more than to paint miniaures! :icon_mrgreen:
At the moment I paint the last five militiamen of a new regiment for my army but there are so many other things to do in real life :icon_mrgreen:. So I have only slow progress but I hope I can present the new regiment in the next days.
... and there is some more terrain to build and paint ... the next project is a river with a little stone bridge ... all I need is more time! :biggriin:
-
Fantastic job in your terrain is very cool!
-
You're getting a stunning set of scenery, sir! The Battlemasters watchtower is a very classic, and the addition of that graveyard gives it a much more grim "warhammer" loook :eusa_clap:

Militia Regiment „Krudenwald“

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170804/e6tij3wy.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Militia Regiment „Krudenwald“ is a volunteer regiment from Krudenwald und the surrounding villages.
The militiamen are from various professions but most of the men are farmers, hunters or rangers.
The regiment only activates in case of mobilization and the militiamen already fought brave in many battles against Orcs & Goblins.
The “Krundenwald” regiment is known for their dauntlessness and fighting power.
Especially in battles against superior enemies they received some awards and some regular regiments felt very ashamed in the past!
The leader of the “Krudenwald” Militia Regiment is Feldwaibel Guntram Steinbrot.

Great jo on that militia unit and those scenery pieces :eusa_clap:

Thank you! :::cheers:::
At the moment I have a short break with my Hochlanders because a giant problem :icon_mrgreen: get in the way! :-o :icon_mrgreen:
I spotted a fine kit for a giant. :icon_biggrin: ... and I need a giant for my Ogres! :::cheers:::
The kit is from Master Box Ltd. It is very cheap, only € 11,- , and it is a plastic kit.

(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170809/n5ji5kkj.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Today I build the giant and I am excited. The giant looks great and the kit is easy to build. Only the fitting accuracy is not so good and I have to fill some holes but I think this is not a problem. :icon_mrgreen:
... and for this price it is a fantastic kit! :-D
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170809/fp6f2ed8.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170809/bidp2bt7.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
Of course I made pictures with the giant of GW:

-
I like him more than the GW giant.
I also like your dirty green.
-
Quite a bargain for sure. Almost looks like the big giants younger brother.
-
That's a nifty giant. Reminds me of Richard Keel from Eegah
-
@ Rowsdower: :::cheers::: I think you are correct - look at this poster of the film: :icon_mrgreen:
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170810/jo8ckjf7.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
-
As it happens, in Dutch, eega means spouse.
-
Quite nice a giant there for sure!
Only problem is he is holding the trunk like it was a light javelin. Could you modify the grip in order to give the trunk some pondus?
-Z
-
As it happens, in Dutch, eega means spouse.
And your point? All good spouses wield clubs and scream 😺 And I don't mean just the males 🙀
-
:icon_mrgreen:
All good spouses wield clubs and scream
:icon_mrgreen: :::cheers::: :icon_mrgreen: ... made my day! :::cheers::: :eusa_clap:
@ Zygmund: I like the easy way he holds the trunk. Because this looks like he wipes off the first and second row (... or maybe some more rows? :-D) of the regiment before him! :icon_lol:
"Off the road please! This is the way for me and my trunk you little bastards!" ... and then there is a loud and belling laughter out of his evil-smelling throat! :icon_eek:
... oh yes ... too many pictures in my brain ... :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
-
We can only hope my wife never reads the above. Look for me in a nearby peat bog if she does. Prone and preserved. 😸☠️👆
-
@Sergeant Henry
Thank you for the reference. Made my day :eusa_clap:
-
At the moment I am working on a Hellblaster Volley Gun and its crew.
But the progress is very slow so it is time again for some terrain! :icon_mrgreen:
One of my first terrain pieces was this ruin.
I build it from styrofoam and I used a statue from Ziterdes:
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170813/98ieimh6.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170813/ia2sdoy9.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170813/l8drcvx3.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
When the new 8th edition of Warhammer started I liked especially the rules for terrain.
I tried to build some special terrain for this edition. Because my wife plays Orcs & Goblins we needed a special forest terrain - the mushroom forest:
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170813/gayqvvdv.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170813/jxhc6ttw.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)

-
Dude, I love all your sutff :eusa_clap:
All your terrain stuff are really amazing. I love so far your tower with the cimetery and your mushroom forest. Really awesome. How do you make these maushroom by the way?
Congrat! :::cheers:::
-
I really love the musroom forest!
-
Yep! Your terrain is magnificent. The mushroom forest is indeed a forest worthy of defence.
-
Thank you very much gentlemen! :::cheers:::
The mushroom forest is an idea from one of our first games in the 8th edition in 2010.
I played a game with my army of Hochland against the Orcs & Goblins of my wife. A unit of Night Goblins moved through a forest and my wife rolled the dice for a mushroom forest. Can there be a better forest for Goblins than a mushroom forest? :icon_mrgreen:
At this moment I decided to build a mushroom forest. I racked my brain where I can get mushrooms for the forest and then some weeks before Christmas I found some small mushrooms in a supermarket. They were decorations for Christmas trees. The big mushroom is chinaware and also piece of decoration. The big mushroom got some paint but the small mushrooms are original! :icon_mrgreen:
I copied the base of the forest from GW on plastic card, so I can exchange the forest when it is necessary. I also used moveable tree and mushroom bases on the forest base.
Some stones, sand, woodgrass and some paints = the mushroom forest was ready for action! ... and we have a lot of fun with it! :biggriin:

New equipment arrives at the Guards Army Corps!
I have a new cannon with a brand-new story and my own rules. :icon_mrgreen:
This cannon is now in the experimental stage:
The Hochland Forest Cannon
(http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170815/niqva5yl.jpg) (http://www.directupload.net)
The Hochland Forest Cannon is a relative new invention in the Empire but in the regions of Hochland spaciously known.
A rarely known but quite talented master technicus from Hergig, Friedemar von Plöckingen, noticed some years ago that there are only few cannons in the Guards Army Corps of Hochland.
The reason for this circumstance is the commander of the artillery regiment, Konrad Ludenhof, the son of the Elector, who has an outstanding antipathy to cannons.
However the use of cannons in the mostly wooded districts of Hochland is very difficult or even impossible too.
Only in particular regions of Hochland or the use on missions outside of Hochland cannons could be effective.
To shoot with cannon into a forest or to shoot out of a forest or to shoot within a forest is possible but not most effective. The line of sight is limited because of the many trees and the ballistic trajectory of a cannonball is uncalculable.
So Friedemar von Plöcklingen got the idea to develop a cannon for the use in forests.
The cannon had to be small and mobile to move it in the forest. Horses or a team of oxen wasn’t the right approach. The cannon must be moved by the crew.
The range of such ordnance is not very important because in a battle in the forest the front lines are nearby.
The main parameter to think about was the caliber and the kind of bullet such a cannon use.
Von Plöckingen developed a small-bore bullet that bursts on the ground or in the trees.
It was especially important that these bullets had enough fragmentation and can hit a major area with their disgusting and often deadly splints from the bullet and the trees.
After some years of research and development he produced the Hochland Forest Cannon.
The original name of the cannon was:
“Von Plöckingens movable gunpowder gadget for perforation of the Hochland tree population and the thereby simultaneously connected life ending of hostile minded invaders”.
This title impressed the Elector when he was personally present at the demonstration of the new weapon but he decided that this title was too long and maybe a little unknowable to the simple minded soldiers in his army.
Therefore he ordered to call the new cannon „Hochland Forest Cannon“.
Due to the excellent demonstration one Hochland Forest Cannon was delegated on a trial basis to the Independent Cannon Battery of the Artillery Regiment “Kurprinz Konrad Ludenhof” at Burg Schippel.
Rules:
The profile of the cannon and the crew is the same as normal empire cannon!
100 Points
Crew of three with hand weapon
War machine
Special rules:
The Hochland Forest Cannon can move in and through Forests! Forests are not impassable terrain.
Range: 36 inch
Strength: 4/2
Rending
The Hochland Forest Cannon will shoot to the rules like cannon in the Warhammer rulebook.
Exceptions:
- Every miniature beneath the line between the first and the second point of impact suffers a rending hit with strength 4.
- Place the 3 inch template at the second point of impact. This is the splinter effect of the cannon.
- Every miniature beneath the template suffers a rending hit with strength 2.
- When miniatures are beneath the line between the first and the second point of impact and under the template too, they suffers only the strength 2 hit!
Case shot:
The Hochland Forest Cannon will shooting case shots to the rules like cannon in the Warhammer rulebook.
Exceptions:
- Range: 8 inch
- Strength: 2
- Rending
-
These rules look good. I love the idea of a forest cannon. Might steal it for one of my WFRP sessions. :-P
-
Unfortunately I have no time to paint at the moment.
... and for the next two weeks there will be a break in my blog here because I will travel to Moscow. :::cheers:::
But before my journey begins I want to show more of my terrain. :smile2:

Like your terrain, the cannon backstory, and the attitude of creating it all yourself. Always reminds me of the real salt of this hobby. :-)

Totally, nice terrain Sergeant.
Maybe you could add some wet stain on the walls you made, just to make them more irregular

Definetly. That's what this hobby's all about. Huge respect. :::cheers:::

Thank you very much for your kind compliments! :::cheers:::
Now I am back from Moscow but unfortunately I got a bad cold from Russia. :icon_cry:
I hope to recover in the next days and I can't wait to start painting the next miniatures of the Guards Army Corps! :biggriin:

Best of health to you, then. I can't wait to see more Hochland goodness from you. :smile2:

After a short period of abstinence from the hobby I returned to the table and built some more terrain! :icon_mrgreen:
I built a modular river. :biggriin: The river contains of seven parts:

With the right light the river is a little bit shining:

A river segment with a Gor:

I can build various courses of the river. Here are some examples:

The next project will start in some minutes: I need a stone bridge!

This is awesome and looks fun. Can you describe the process? I do believe I need a river now 😺
-
Yes, of course! :::cheers:::
It is easy to build a river in this way:
I used plastic card because the plastic is flexible and very thin. The straight segments are 12 inches long and 4 inches wide. The bend segments are nearly 12 inch "long".
I sprayed a black base coat on every segment because I need a coat for the sand. Then I glued the sand on both sides of the segments.
You have to look that the sand is on each end of the segments in the same width!
The sand got a black base coat too.
I bought at our local Woolworth shop three tubes of acrylic paint - two green and one black. This is the paint for the "water". I mixed the colours and painted them on the segments from dark to less dark.
Then I painted and washed the sand with different brown colours and washes.
Finally I "painted" the water with a wood glue and water mixture.
I used grass that looks like the rest of my table.
... and when you will build a river be aware of this: The most time of the process you will wait and watch the glue and the colours drying! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

Excellent! Great looking water effect using just paint. I'm going to get on board with this and forge a river.

Modular river is my new, favorite thing! Wowsa!

:icon_mrgreen: :::cheers::: :icon_mrgreen: I hope you both have the same fun with the building of a modular river like I had big fun with the river! :::cheers:::
I built and painted the bridge ... time is the problem ... I need more time ... Hochland is waiting! :icon_mrgreen:

I love the bridge! Did you buy it or make it? I have a lot of trouble with bridges...
-
Thank you! :::cheers:::
I bought the bridge from Warlord Games. It's a plastic bridge and easy to built. :biggriin:

Great looking bridge. There's just one problem tough... I don't see any Trolls around! :-P
