Put a Bret, an Elf or a Dwarf in there, and I may well buy one. I guess, other races do not really fit, because they do not defecate (Undead), do care where they defecate (Skaven, Orcs & Goblins) or.. well... just do not fit (Ogres).

+1 for stronghold in general and the thunderbox in particular. I painted one for my pleasant surprise last year and it's a lovely kit.

Thunderbox? Is that a euphemism for the shithouse?

It seems that Mantic is selling a plastic battlefield through their kickstarter and it's kinda like the one GW made. But it comes without the skulls in the earth crust and I presume that it's cheaper. The kickstarter only lasts for 5 more days, though.

Short notice I know, but I just spotted that Manorhouse Miniatures have a sale with 15% or 20% up for the whole of November (i.e. the whole of tomorrow!).

Maybe if the UK national lottery draw goes well tonight....  :icon_wink:

Amera stuff is good as a starting point for a terrain piece. It needs lots of work with texture and plastikard, but is a very good structure to fill out. Ive used several pieces to great effect. They are definitely not finished pieces.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

They do look impressive. I am about to get a sheet of 8' x 4' board for use as a gaming table, and was considering how to paint the base colour. Now this is has set me thinking:
A plain grass one, the streets one and possibly the ocean one would pretty much cover all options I am likely to use.

The Battlefleet Gothic guys could certainly use the space ones.

Don't let Soth see these - he'll be doing bulk deals -  :engel:                      Actually that's  not a bad idea  :icon_idea:

Rob Hawkins, former terrain builder for the US White Dwarf team, has recently opened a small web shop for resin terrain - Skull Forge Scenics. I haven't purchased anyhting yet, but I really like his work. Not the cheapest, but not too expensive either.

I bought some Mantic Terrain Crate stuff for use in my building projects, specifically the 'Town Centre' kit. Website is here:

https://www.manticgames.com/games/terrain-crate/

What I got in my set:

This is all roughly 28mm/32mm scale, although some of it seemed slightly out of scale with each other. For example, the grey plastic wall sets seem too slim for Warhammer purposes, whilst some of the crates and barrels in the brown plastic seem too big. The large obelisk thing is, frankly, massive and awful.

The overall quality of the sculpting is pretty good, and it feels similar in style to GW stuff overall. My main gripe is the plastic quality: stuff I got was more of a rubbery, slightly bendy plastic, so some of the larger and longer pieces were actually a little warped, or flexible in the case of thin things, like the cartwheels which were not at all road safe. Also, the plastic has a slight sheen to it and doesn't take paint that well, even after being primed.

Overall though it was kinda the right stuff for what I needed and good to add some colour to terrain imo.

For my friends in my own country I can recommend https://www.sceneryworkshop.nl/.
Tons of stuff to choose from, also supplies for your own creations.
Now go! Ride towards the sun atop these noble steeds
You're our spandex heroes, now fullfil your destinies
And so we turned and rode beyond the castle walls
with shiny codpiece armour that doth cradle our chivalrous balls
