The GW people added little crosses to the reins:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440090a&prodId=prod20010

I did the same thing when I painted my general a few years back, and it did break up the flatness.
Not entirely sure if it would work on your model, but it might match his hat.
Is the grave too deep? Then take a sip,
Raise the brimming goblet to thy lip!
Yet a sip! Ditto one, ditto two, ditto three….
Then die contentedly.

I think Brutus is a Mordheim Witch Hunter dog , that's what Ebay stated on the auction!

GL finding the right pet!

I suggest to put black or dark blue flames on the reins (look at the drunken hobbit minis, there is very nice examples)

Arghh, too slow. I am not sure about the cross, may be try empire cross (teutonic cross) instead?

Superb

I'm making my own war altar at the moment which won't look as well painted :(

But I also found the base size a problem, so I thought "sod it" and carried on. Great pooch, I may steal that idea ;)
We go to gain a little patch of ground that hath in it no profit but the name.

You wouldn't want those armoured horses banging  into your squad at 20 MPH!

Then the Skies on the side of the wheels rip off legs,

The Arch lector starts hitting people with War Hammers,

and then the Dog bites !

When seeing the first pictures of the war altar on its base, I was going to comment on the wreaths being the same color as the head adornments, but glad to see they've now been made green, and it looks better.  I am also not sure the color of the adornments works, but at leats things eem toned down a bit with the green wreaths.  And I like the addition of the dog.

To be fair it's quite a random custom throw together of lots of bits from different kits and manufacturers!

I've also been rushing it, and the base is not great.

I am generally pleased though, it's battle ready

Nice work Chumley. I like the austerity of your altar.

I am not too sure about the head crest of the horses, it looks cartoony to me. Something like a mix between a caramel look and old plastic...

cheers , simple rule of mine,

use 2 complimentary colours, and also silver + black + browns + creams/whites

maybe a small decal allowing a 3rd colour, but only very small.

keep it easy to the eye

There is so much fantastic stuff in this thread I wouldn't know where to begin. So it's probably just easier for me to throw in a general 2-cents and say you're an amazing painter, you have a very keen eye for color choice, and I'll use this thread as a great reference on how to approach my own Empire painting.

Damn and blast you sir!!  I just got that old stank engineer in the mail yesterday thinking I'd be super original and cut off his little box, stick him on a base and enter him in this month's competition.  It's one of my favorite sculpts and I think yours is actually the best paintjob I've ever seen on him  :eusa_clap:

Mordheim WHD look like Rottweiler's with a harness. Got two on my desk and just debating on where to use them atm (sorry not for sale)

What hammers did you use for the WH - are they from the Chaos Warriors? Got my AOW hunter today and one of the gun's is a bit of a manky and was doing to do hammers or swords.

I like the scheme and the War Alter btw  :eusa_clap:
