i have addictive personality traits, which i have to keep in check.

I used to drink myself to oblivion  , which is quite normal when you are a student in the UK, but i carried it on for years after uni,  until i sorted myself out,

the 1st step is realizing that you overstep the mark

CMoN is a bit of an eye of the beholder, some great stuff some cr@p and the ratings don't always reflect this...  this aside though...

Keep it up! you've got me painting again, I regularly take a peek and what's streaming off your painting table for ideas/inspiration/things to nick :)
Even got the hairdryer out on some napoleonics... (posted elsewhere on the forum) and it worked like a charm :) under 2 hours from sprue to table top :)  Some fantastic stuff here, I really like the DE combo halberdiers.  Your pistoliers many may consider an acquired taste, but it is a fantasy army people :) I really like the paint job, don't know if I'd done it for pistoliers but that's me (If they were my kislevites?.....)

Remember - nothing better than seeing a huge fully painted army arrayed for battle with more guns than you can poke a stick at :)
Also...
Coffee is for painting, beer is for gaming :)

Agreed...  Consistency is somewhat lacking in votes, and as a good friend said who used to use CMoN quite a bit had said, it is just a much a judge upon your photography skills than it is your painting skills.

Yes, but do not make the mistake of too much coffee before painting, you can get shaky.  "Darn, my troops look like they've been painted by an overactive, hyper 3-year-old, but I can stay up for days painting them!"

just don't mistake your brush cleaning mug for your coffee mug, brush water tastes nasty. Although coffee will clean a brush fairly nicely.  :blush:steveb

Made that mistake once
Now I use completely different containers for my beverage, and paint water, unless I am at work on lunch, where I use a styrofoam cup for both.  Though admittedly, I put my drink way on the other side of my desk so I don't get confused...I am thinking pop/ or tea would not clean brushes so well.

I have to admit being a bit upset by the score I get at cmon sometimes too.  I expected to get 8 on my latest addition there (after I really put an effort on my latest greatswords), but it ended up at about 7,6. Could not help myself thinking, wtf I spent hours and hours on these guys and some people rate it 7, bah.... But then again, if you look at the best stuff at cmon. Stuff that are rated around 9 is amazing, while those rare rated 10 seem impossible. comparing my own work with those I realize that I'm not there yet (and will probably never be). With that said an 8 is a pretty high score at cmon considering that you get to see the best painted minis in the world there. Plus the best painted minis over there are not part of armies. These master painters spend ridiculous amounts of time on one mini.

I like your stuff alot, keep it up!

u just got an 8 from me, lol

i had an army pic on there not so long ago, it reached 8.5 with 52 votes...

Then some guy decided he didn't like me, and kept logging in using a proxy server, voting 1/10, as my score started tumbling, even though it was on there for months at a stable 8.5 , with no additional votes being added.

CMON is rubbish actually.

Whoever programmed their site, allows for multiple voting from IP addresses,

you don't even have to be a logged in member to vote,

you can vote twice from one IP, then go via a free proxy and vote twice, and keep doing this switching your IP.

I saw a guy on there selling an e bay auction for a greatsword, which was voted 9/10, but an obvious 6.5/10 in reality,

blatent proxy voting

it's rigged completely,

in fact i am going to mail their admin now and voice this blatent fact

Not planning on signing up at this point, so it seems no comments are available.

No big deal, plenty of comments to read here anyway. :icon_wink:

I see Mr. Chumley's comment, but no others so I'm assuming nobody else has commented. I've always seen comments on different pics I see there. I'm almost never logged in.

I've got the attention of a moderator now,

I've told him why i think CMON is pointless and flawed,

looking forward to his response!

First of all. Don't be too serious with the scores. We've had countless of discussions about them and yes the system is flawed but the majority of it is not through cheating as it tends to even out in the end. Most of the vote irregularities comes from people posting on forums, facebook, blogs and having fans. You can vote as a nonmember but there's a few algorithms in place that takes care of some of the sniping and inflation of scores.

One member - one vote, is one of these things that have been up for discussion and there are arguments for and against the proposition. The compromise that was implemented some years ago is that if you are a member you can also see the registered score next to the ordinary so it's blatantly obvious if something is amiss. For example my latest mini has an 8.1 score with a total of 36 votes the registered rating is 8.0 with 16 votes. And that's the usual case, not a lot of difference.

The biggest help to the scores would be if more people voted.

Sven

Even if its fair voting, it still doesn't seem worth it.

Chumley,

the Knights look great!  I love the old ones so much.  But I don't know those horses...and I have a buynch of Knights Panter from the same  period as yours...so which horses are those?  I think they look great!

cheers,

It's good to have in writing from CMON that their entire website is flawed.

I hardly rate anything beyond 3 little clappy guys...

The use of the old knights with the "new" Bret. horses is truly inspiring.

Great work!

I like throwing together random purchases!

I need some High Helms next

Just also waiting for some Gamezone Halberds to arrive,

can't wait to see if they are feasible,

If so I am seriously considering bartering 100 of them at a better price direct with Germany
