New updates on my rather slow blog. I have been inspired to update this blog by the recent craze on the Estalians.  Recently I finished up some of my artillery & also converted half a unit of pikemen too.  What do you think of them???  I hope to update again some time soon.

They look fine King, just fine. Painting is excellent and the conversion are great!  :eusa_clap:

Take care though  that the individuals don't stand to diagonal.  It looks very desparate and disorganised if the pikes don't point the same direction. (after all we are talking about the creme de la creme of the Estalian forces ;) )

I normally assemble all models in the regiment, before putting them on their base.  First I glue the front line in place and place them on a movement tray with the bases of the second, third and fourth line behind it.  Glue-ing the models on the right spot becomes easier, alot easier!

This is my fourth pikemen unit to assemble..  Rico's republican guard (the first) was hell!!!

Love the look of the "Landsknechts" and the general "historical look" of it all. And the Mordheim-road warden was and still is a beautiful miniature. Though the size difference between Pirazzos' and "modern Imperials" I mentioned in my "Estalians"-topic really goes to show here, too. Stood my four legionaries up next to a Mordheim-witchhunter... they look like children in comparison.  :closed-eyes:

Are the Morions/heads on the Empire plastics done by Microarts? They look really nice.

@ Henerius: Yep you are right about the positioning, I took account of it only too late  I will try to remedy it a bit as I still have half a unit to convert

@ Hagen_von_Loewenstein: I know what you mean by size difference between the Pirazzo's & the imperials.  I myself considered this but I had a problem.....both imperials & Pirazzo's make good looking units per se, but every time I search for pirazzo's to make a whole unit I either don't find any or am outbid  :x I really wanted to include my only 4 Pirazzo models within the pike unit so I had to compromise (making an all imperial unit would have been nice but that would have meant leaving the pirazzo's out). So I reasoned why not together? I mean humans do not have the same height nor the same build no? I have participated a lot in reenactments & I myself looked like a kid when compared to a 6'5 person  :icon_lol: (I am only 5'5).  So I have grown accustomed to this idea (at least till I can find more reasonably priced Pirazzo's or more of a variety of Conquistador heads)

The pikemen's heads are not microart (the ones on my swordsmen are), they come from Amazon games. In my army I have a mix of Gamezone, Gamesworkshop, Microart, Eureka, Amazon, Assault group .......bits, pieces and minis lol. I know its not tourney legal but I won't let GW dictate which models I can or cannot buy, directly or indirectly.

Nice artillery!!!!

Really like the breech loading cannon.

Looks like something that would have been on an iron clad.

« Reply #66 on: June 18, 2010, 03:06:34 PM »
So this is my first unit of knights which was heavily converted unsing GS extensivly.  As some of you might know by now, I am embarking on a revamp of my army by replacing some units, adding some others or repainting old favorites.  Apart from this unit of 5 knights I also have two other units of knights started (one of them composed of FP knights).  Anyway I did not want to have all my knights with the traditional lance & shield as where my old knight units; but instead I went for some variety this time round.  These knights are armed with all sorts of weapons which give them more individuality.  What do you think of them gentlemen?

Ahh at least 2 comments....I was starting to think no one liked them in the least but were being polite by not replying

@Henerius: It is a conversion based on the gamezone general.  These are only the vanilla knights as the inner circle are just being painted as I speak & than there is the knight unit composed from FP's knight kit

@Kirgan:  The banner is nothing big.......its just a metal sheet bent to the desired shape with some greenstuff to attach it to its pole.  The heraldry displayed on it is in fact an Imperial Forge decal (I wonder where IF is as I have not seen him around these parts in ages and his site seems to be closed down  :icon_confused:)

Thanks for both your comments gentlemen

I like the dynamic atmosphere this unit breathes.

Almost makes me want to redo some myself.

But first, I'll finish my unpainted and unglued lead/plastic...

Can anyone give me some insight upon whether or not the cross on top of the crown is unethical or even offensive in a game such as Warhammer? I really like it but cannot see a way to justify it being there (I don't want to pull it off  :icon_neutral:).

I realize I'm rather late to this particular party, but just in case this is still bothering you- just say it's a stylized representation of Sigmar's hammer.

Also, the knights rock. As does the rest of this army.

The knights look really good but are let down in comparison to your other painting by the standard of painting on the metal, especially on some of the horses' barding

Which barding exactly Valetus?  I mean is there a particular horse or just simply all of them & what is the problem with the barding?  Thanks for being an eye opener
