Yeah, the ethereal dragon is not the end all be all, at least not at 1250 or 1000 points. It cannot be killed by the Empire. It just can’t.

But at least at these smaller game sizes, he doesn’t have a strong army to support it. So I’m able to avoid it pretty well, deny it the combo charges it wants, and wipe out the rest of his army for victory points. No telling if that will hold up at 2000 points though.

Combo charges are oddly a liability for it too. The one big round of combat, I won because my Griffon and Demigryphs killed Silverhelms and won on combat resolution by a lot. But they wouldn’t have been able to do much to the dragon.

I think that the state troops regiments are slightly small.   I would cut that second unit of halberdiers into two detachments of 10 each and cut out 2 of the missile detachments to add bulk to the remaining halberdiers.

If I cut the second regiment in half then I loose all four detachments of crossbows and all pretence at shooting.

Wouldn't dropping to one unit of infantry be a nonsense? At that point they're open to being overwhelmed and destroyed in short order.

He doesn't appear to be too successful with his dragon of doom.

I think you kill with magic missiles.

I agree that 20 is too small. I don’t agree with combat detachments. I think swap 2 of the crossbow detachments for archers, and maybe swap the other two for more halberds. Aim is to make the unit 7 or 8 wide.

Units of 4 demi’s seems a bit large and maybe harder to steer around the table?
Unfortunately I think the wizard needs to he strong too.

putting a pegasus in a unit of knights

Flying units can't join non-flying units.

I did not realize that. Good to know. Where can I find that rule for reference?

If you're really going to join them:

- Drop those missile detachments
- Pick up at least two units of archers with scouts
- Upgrade your wizard to a level 4

Good luck, and welcome to the new Empire  :::cheers:::

He’s 🇨🇦! As am I.

Check out “old world charm” worth it just for the intro music! Aussie, Canadian and American so something to annoy every one there. Still the have a great take on things. The dwellers below are back, Old World fanatics both Aussies. What is it with Aussies and their great Warhammer podcasting tradition?

Ha ha! :eusa_clap: In a first draft of my post I was going to say I thought he was Canadian with a kind of Nickelback vibe... but didn't want to be too nasty to my brothers and sisters in The Great White North. Love you guys!  :::cheers:::

I agree, there is something special about Aussies and podcasting and Warhammer. There is definitely disproportionate Aussie representation in my online Warhammer life. Love the work they do. The sum of my other Aussie experience is Mad Max, Danny Ricciardo on Drive to Survive, news stories about wildfires, giant crocodiles, and my American buddy who moved to Australia to play pro rugby and came back with an Australian wife. Oh, and something about a dingo and a baby. I don't know what that all says about Australia, but it must be a wild place!

Oh, and Bluey. We watch  a lot of Bluey. Very incongruous with the rest of my Aussie experience.
