Just checking if anyone remembers an old issue of WD that had a photo spread of an sigmarite army. It had Luther I think plus flagellants etc and most importantly a devoted steam tank. The thing was magnificent and I think my copy was toasted in a flood. I would like to pattern my tank after that one but I cannot remember the name of the army or the issue it was in. I am making a new devoted army (something I wanted to do way back when) but now have the opportunity to. If someone has that issue and can post a pic of it or the WD issue # that would be great.
-
Do you remember if it was square or round bases?
Was it the old WDs of 6th and 7th, or was it when they had those mini WDs and the pamphlets on sale side by side?
I dont remember seeing a devoted steam tank, and I had most WDs during late 6th and 7th ed.
-
You will probably have to narrow it down a bit -
Old (small) Steam Tank, unlikely given the contet.
- metal one - most likely and will have a limited time span through the 'noughties'.
.............. or latest plastic
Also weren't North American White Dwarfs numbered differently, and not sure if they always had the same content?
-
Good points. Larger metal tank. 6 - 7 ed. It had a white cover and it was the regular size WD. I have most of the little versions. It had a mostly white cover. Problem is if you had seen it, you would never forget it. It was that good. Square base as well
-
The North American editions were indeed numbered different for a time, but only for a few years I believe before they switched to the little pamphlet version.

WD 303 (UK)/302 (US) March 2005, has a couple of articles on "The Sigmarites", including a Sigmarite Showcase by Dave Taylor and Steve Stiefel.
On a side note: "the devoted" in WFB usually refers to cultists.
-
Thank you Fidelis!!! That’s the baby. Now to find the damn thing in my pile of rubble. Thanks for the info on the devoted. Not exactly what I had in mind for the name. I’m thinking Disciples of Sigmar unless that’s the name of the abbe army 😸
Confirmed : US WD 302. Going to look thru my collection again and pray.
-
Frozen sticks of piss!!!!
I have every freakin issue before and after including the famous #300 and that one is gone!!
One conclusion ......I took it out to keep it safe. Translation: gone forever. Been down that thrice damned road before. If anyone actually has that issue and can post a pick of the steamtank, I would greatly appreciate it 😺
-
Alas, no. There are some copies on sale on amazon or ebay.
-
Just ordered copy from amazon. It’s at this point I will find my copy or someone will post. Please post anyways if you can as my copy won’t be here before March 20. Also gives me lots of time to build and paint the rest.
-
Can you post pic when your copy arrives. Been looking for mine to help, but 296 to 309 missing. The hunt continues.
-
Consider it done. It was an incredible army.
-
I pull all white dwarfs apart and seperate articles into clear sleeve folders.
As such I cannot reference what I have to which WD, but I will have a look through my Empire folder. I dont ever really recall seeing such an army in what I collected, but you never know.
-
I tihink that peculiar army appears on Empire Collector's Guide too.
-
I am afraid not. There is a witch hunter army by Steve Hinett's (and without a steam tank).
-
Thanks a lot for the effort guys! I was beginning to think this was a phantom but Bartol’s mention of the collectors guide rings a bell too. I seem to remember the double appearance.
-

Possibly, but without the STank.
-Z
-
Not in the collectors guide my friend.
It has all the variants of STank that you could buy at the time and a conversion of long based STank.
-
Have I stared a conspiracy?😺 I am gong to turn my house upside down now to find that article. I have to say I’m doubting myself. Something that beautiful just doesn’t disappear.
-
Maybe it was just a "Ghostly" apparition :engel:
I have my WDs close - I'll have a look later if I get some peace ........................... (the wife's home!)

I’ll be the fool again if it isn’t there. I think it’s uk 301. I believe there’s a slight difference in numbers.
As for the wife being home - there will be no peace for you brother 😸

Perhaps it is time to Paint!

Perhaps it is time to Paint!
Good point! I will finish my sisters of Sigmar, witch hunter, flaggellants, hellblasters, and build the steamtank. Maybe by that time #302 will arrive by amazon and I’ll have a guideline. If not, by memory. (Yipes)

So, you don't have WD 303?
-
There is a conspiracy happenning. Just went to my local GW and the manager who has EVRYTHING has just thrown out her old WD issues so I can’t say she has everything anymore. She vaguely remembers the said army. My case won’t hold water will it Fidelis?
-
Unless it is one of these (https://www.waterproof-cases.co.uk/) or similar.

There be trickery and sneaky goings on with this allusive pamphlet. Having gathered together all said documents and catalogued then in order, I still find having got the 50 beforehand and the following 50. 303 still alludes me. Witchcraft I cry  :icon_evil:

Unbelievable! Like backtracking and destroying all evidence and records. I might add that I purchased the only amazon copy. My card has been returned twice because of innacurate info. The same card I use to buy up every BL thing they sell lol. Time to move this into the tinfoil hat thread 😺
-
It's note this by any chance.

That’s quite the project. The tank I remember was a brownish colour with the books and sigils very much like that. I seemto remember a Penant on crossed sticks flying off it as well. The luminaries hadn’t been brought out atthat time either. But that’s a great thread.
Edit: just realized that has the same penant as well. Really nice. That is about 2015 date. I’m thinking 2005-6

Oz WD 304 (April 2005) has an article entitled The Sigmarites, which is a short fluff-piece with very little in the way of photography, none of which includes a STank. There's nothing even remotely related to Sigmarites within a couple of months either side.
-
US WD 302. I should have it in my greedy little hands by March freakin 27 - April bloody 7 😸. Yay!!
At that point I’ll find out I remembered everything wrong and all can throw tomatoes ☠️

That rules me out of finding it then!

Ok. Now I can finally prove for once in my life, I’m not a delusional lunatic. Here it is and a tribute to my memory (. Which is a feat in itself). In all its glory:

I wonder were I got my inspiration. Only I use them as grestswords. Not free company

Now this may have been how I got the colours for my Sisters of Sigmar.
Was it the WD Fidelis said it was, as still can't find mine.
-
US WD 302. UK. WD 303

Oh ye of liitle faith...

I grovel for your forgiveness and the US version has different picture on cover than UK, which just has Frodo.

Just noticed the tri-barrel on that stank. Mine will only have the regular. I have enough books to cover up the sides but I don’t think I have a biggie for the back.
While I’m at it I should thank Fidelis for the amazon lead. It was the only one at $3.00 plus shipping. At first it said shipping was 3.48 but somehow turned to 23 at the end lol.
-
How about giving the chimney the form of Ghal Maraz?
-
Triple barrel you could make from plastic volley gun. Take one rack of barrels and separate them. Then band together with green stuff. No help with Big Book, only suggest green stuff again.
-

Very interesting! I’ll look for a hammer. Greenstuff is not my fortay unless plugging a hole lol
@scrubber - thanks! I had a spare hellblaster until recently 😺

The final outcome to this search.

Here’s the next issue. There were 12 s-tanks and 12 names. This is sure not to be one of them. #13? Any suggestions for a name?

Sigmar's Blessing?
Atonement?

Sigmar's Little Helper?

I really like atonement. That says it all.
