If you ever get ahold of that spearman, you must paint him to a 10 standard on CMON.  :icon_twisted:

Just curious, since I know nothing about collecting rare minis and how much they are worth....but does painting them increase or decrease their value?  Or is it irrelevant?

I know with some collectibles the goal is to keep them as "minted".   Not the case with lead figures?  :icon_question:

I think purists would prefer to see them unaltered, still in original blisters but thats quite rare to see.  I wouldn't mind one being painted, as paint can be stripped easily enough, and I collect stuff with at least the intention to paint them.  If the miniature is modified or converted though, that tends to decrease the value in most cases.

It all boils down to who wants it, and for how much...

Your collection is amazing and your painting is also far better than you give yourself credit  ::heretic::

I'm also looking for the nuln spearman if you find a spare, I will be interested lol

Cheers Codger .

Regarding painted minis adding value, I think it can add value, if the paint job is good.

It's rare to see people sell good looking well painted empire minis on e bay.

They are usually commission painters looking to sell a nice unit or army for top dollar.

It would be interesting to try and sell a unit painted well to see what it fetched

I should just ask you how much to paint my minatures, rather than buy yours on ebay!

Thanks!  I was just wondering if the situation for rare minis was similar to things like rare coins or antique furniture, where any modification to the piece will most certainly reduce its value (e.g. re-finishing an antique table may lower its value drastically).

So...no such situation for a rare lead figure? Paint away!
Cheers,
Perfesser

PS: you may have already posted this (apologies if you have)...what's the most you've ever seen a miniature figure sell for?

I don't track and monitor anything on e bay apart from human/empire 1980's to present day slotta.

For sure I have seen some rare auctions.

Unreleased flagellant £85,,

Mcdeath went for £105 the other day,

The rare original dragon goes for like £800,

Groups of Mordheim models , the rarer can go for £250 ish

I'm impressed.  I had no idea.
I have a lot of old Ral Partha fantasy figures from the 80s....maybe they're worth something (even with their crappy paint jobs!)   :::cheers:::

Great work on the speed painted models, I often sit with the intention of painting just 1 empire figure fast, I fail ^^ They look really light and airy, very clean :)

bare metal usually sells for more but it probably doesn't matter much for a desired rare model

By the end of Turn 6, Empire had 2650 Left on the board with O and G having 1500 ish.

 :::cheers:::

Victory ! Praise the HBVG, praise the CHickens!

Early on my Knights absorbed all the Orc artillery, and also the brunt of lots of attacks. At one stage a pump wagon slammed their flank with all the nasty upgrades, and took down 8 Knights!

Also Foot of Gork stomped them 3 times , losing 11 Knights!  :eusa_wall:

My Meat Grinder formation played amazingly, the +1 to Hit and 6 + Ward and Hatred ranks of Halberds, saw off Trolls, Giants and Orcs!

Gelt died to a stone thrower in Turn 5 with a roll of 2 to make his save ! URGGGG

My tactic was to have a bunker for my General and BSB in the archers , which was just sat behind 180 Empire Troops,

I call it the Meat Grinder, all men are LD9 re-rollable, with 6+ Ward +1 to Hit and Hatred

Fantastic report! I felt bad for the IC knights when they seemed to go from full strength in one picture to one rank in the next, with a bunch of fanatics around them... Happy to see the Empire still managed to turn the green tide :-)
