1000 points against Vampire counts
« on: January 24, 2005, 11:58:11 AM »
Im playing against a VC player next weekend and have come up with this army, it dosent have any artillery and the only real shooting are 10 handgunners and 5 huntsmen

Chars:
General, Captain, FPA, GW, Icon of Magnus
Battle wiz lvl 2
Battle wiz lvl 2

Core:
20 Swordsmen, Full command
-10 Freecompany detatchment

10 Handgunners

5 Knights, Full command

5 Huntsmen

Special:

5 Pistioliers, marksman with repeater pistol

Rare:

10 Flagellants

The plan is to have the Swordsmen take 1 flank with the Captain and support by the detatchment, Flaggies and knights take the other flank, Pistoliers act as support either for Flaggie/Knight flank or Swordsmen, Huntsmen marchblock and harass, Handgunners sit back and shoot. Im trying out a magic heavy list with no artillery, also im trying to get my main regiments to be not have problems with fear (Icon and Flaggies) and to have the other regiments attack in the flanks only.

What are your oppinions on this list, I know he likes Zombies and Blooddragons.
There is not a problem, that can not be solved with cannons.

I don't know what Caesar thought when he got to the Ides of March
Don't know what Houdini bought when he went to the store
But I sure do miss the eighties

No problem.

I'm not too sure about your magic suite as VC magic is pretty brutal. You might be better off swapping those extra levels for Scrolls and just hang on. Alternatively, VC are one of those armies where a Warrior Priest can come in handy - you might swap one of your Wizards for a WP to command your Knights? If you can squeeze in a VHS somewhere, you also have a good chance at killing a Vampire.

Of course, you should make sure to read Beating the Bat by Atchman!

Ok i took some of your advice, traded Captain with Icon for WP on horse, hvy arm, GW, horse, barding and plan on having him in the Pistoliers regiment, thats 14 attacks with rerolls if im not mistaken, will do nicely for flank chargers and they are imune to fear so will not fail that fatal test. I also swapped the swordsmen for spearmen for the added attacks, lets hope they pass their leadership test    Last time i played against VC i failed my charge test even with an imperial banner reroll
