Topic: Fallen Scholar comes up with an infantry list???

For those of you who know my lists they are usually all mounted.  I have a belief that "he who builds on infantry builds on dirt".  Sorry if I angered anyone with that last statement.

I have been reading all of this TVI type stuff and decided to try one for myself.

Tell me what you think:

Elector
Count with great weapon, full plate, barded horse, Holy Relic, and the VHS
Total:  189 (goes with the unit of swordsmen)

This is your standard EC.  He is there to provide leadership to the grunts and maybe now and then beat up on a big bad guy._____________________________________________________________

These two are expendable.  They will go after gun crews and stop units from marching.

Looks pretty solid.  I guess you don't plan to move with your infantry with so many static handgunners.  My suggestion is to take some moble detachments on two of the battalions and put the shooting on just one.  I also think it might be stronger to drop some stuff for a great cannon or two.  

You have a great army for moving with the light stuff, so if you can back it with a lot of shooting or mobile infantry I think you would do fine.  Perhaps one of the strongest Empire armies can be made with mostly knights, shooting units (parent shooters with shooting detachments) and 3-4 pieces of artillery.

Think about why it works, if they hang back you shoot the crap out of them.  If they move forward you charge them with your knights and pegasus riders.  The charge spacing protects the shooting units.  It works great, though usually gets groans from your foes.  I actually find it to be one of the best balanced Empire armies.  It rarely loses and it rarely wins almost the perfect "draw" army.

I have been thinking of just such a list for some time.  Lots of MSU knights, pistoliers, Pegasus captains, scouts, lots of hangunners/crossbowmen, and maybe a helblaster.  Not sure on that one yet.

I will work on a list and post it in a few days.  Working with my standard list I am thinking of dropping the large unit of innner circle knights (351 points) and adding 40 or so handgunners.  The army standard would then be turned into a third pegasus captain.  Or maybe an EC on a pegasus.

What about this one Atchman?  40 handgunners maybe crossbowmen...not sure yet.  I have lots of crossbowmen.  3 Pegasus captains and still a ton of knights and pistoliers.
