Long overdue return to Empire
« on: March 31, 2019, 10:08:12 AM »
After not having painted anything empire related in about 5 years it was about time to get back. Empire was my first warhammer love and it will always be at the core of warhammer for me. I have started a old style dwarf army aswell thats coming along ok but after sorting through my collection there where just to many unpainted Empire minis there. So ironically i started out with a Brettonia model. The iconic Green knight horse. I bought it way back and kinda tried at the time to copy the classic McVey version but it really didnt compare very well so it was abandoned, but it felt like the time to try again. Looking at what I felt I never made to Empire that I was happy about I decided on a mounted BSB. So there we are, I wanted a solid banner for some freehand fun. Turned out ok though the scroll part on the front didnt come out great, and the checkered pattern was a pain at times. Now I just need to find a nice shield, and do the base, oh well. Plan is this will be the start of an oldschool Empire and or DoW army, we will see.

Where did I see this before? Like maybe two weeks ago? Some other forum?

Having spend most of the painting time I had, and thats not much to start with, on my dwarfs I finally got something done this weekend. I have had a unit of Reiksguard foot lying around since probably 95 when a friend got them while on a trip to London, so, better late then never. Still wip clearly but got good progress atleast. Opted for a classic paint scheme.

Very well done!
It is not enough to have no ideas of your own; you must also be incapable of expressing them.

Thanks all. Next I am planning on doing flagellants. These guys have had a number of paint jobs over time, the first (best forgotten) was a psychadelic nightmare from the early 90s with the less used colors happily slapped on. Does anyone have any inspiring examples on how to do them right? I am a bit worried about the feets, all those huge huge feets..
