« on: May 13, 2009, 10:09:53 AM »
Dogs: 4pts each

Mv 8 Ld 5 and the rest like a human spearmen

Fast Cav

If takes a Guard-dog (Mv6 Ld7) costs 8pts and could give his Leadership

Free Company Knights: 15pts each

Stats equal to free company

Fast Cav

Could have:

Light Armour (1pt) Shield (1pt but don't count as fast cav) Spear (1pt) Bow (1pt) Standart (8pt) Musician (5pt) Champion (8pt)

Rather than Free Company Knights (which I think is more like free lancers/ heavy cav) call them Roadwardens or suchlike, maybe give them the option to take blunderbusses instead of a bow?
We go to gain a little patch of ground that hath in it no profit but the name.

They look good, but yeah I reckon call them road wardens and give them crossbows or blunderbusses.

Maybe add a 'packmaster' to the dogs, a guy on a horse - acts the same way as a skaven one.
I for one welcome our new flying cat overlords.

I like the dog options- the fast cav not so much. I prefer to bring back Kislev. Unless they have crossbows, because mounted crossbowmen would be awesome (WITHOUT move or fire, due to stirrups)

And the packmaster is a great idea.

I don't know about either of these.  The dogs certainly do not deserve fast cav and I do not think Empire need Fast Cav core.  Pistoliers will almost never be taken if that happens.

But you have a lot of good special choices:

Cannons, Outriders, Pistoliers, Greatswords etc.

But rodman has a point- the dogs should be regular cav.

Core fast cav, with the options of:
Light armor, shield (if light armor and shiled are combined they no longer count as Fast cav), heavy armor (same as mixing light armor and shield), spear, bow.

Core Fast Cav changes the makeup of the army too much and really lowers the value of Pistoliers.  I'd say if you think Empire should have Core have Fast Cav then you really don't understand the design philosophy of the empire army.

Using heavy tin-can knights to perform the role of fast cav, and using fast cav as static bunkers?  :icon_biggrin:

I'd be pretty crazy about that Dogs unit if they existed. They're pretty ridiculously undercosted though as you propose them. I'd think making them more like Chaos Warhounds at 6 points a model, M7, Ld5, and not fast cav; this would be more appropriate as that's an incredibly cheap awesome unit anyway. I don't think these are very likely to find their way into an Empire book, but I would love it if they did. They would make an excellent throwaway diverter unit.

Regarding the fast cav, I'd use DoW Light Cav for a benchmark unit at 11 points a model for basic human stats on a basic horse. +1 point for spears, shield, or light armor with light armor and shield making the unit no longer fast cav. I do think these would have a place in a new Empire armybook, with the only change required being regular command costs (probably 7/14/14). I currently use two units of the DoW Light Cav as my rare choices in my standard Empire list and find them incredibly handy for keeping frenzied units busy, diverting charges, taking out warmachines, and occasionally getting a flank or rear charge against a soft-hitting target.
