Any1 Tried this mini for a War Altar conversion ?
« on: January 03, 2010, 02:34:05 PM »
I was trawling through GW's site and thought this mini had some potential for a Walter conversion.

Maybe mounting the Arch Lector/Grand Theogonist ontop behind the driver, cutting away the sides of the coach and making bars. You could then fill it with Flaggies or captured enemies, like a mobile prison/sacrifice cage.

Any thoughts ?

I think its solid metal, make heavy conversion work difficult at best. on the other hand maybe a lector's carriage as is, though id probably rather convert the black coach for that...I wish they still had the components pictured like the old site did, would make it easier to plan conversions before ordering the thing and finding out it wasnt what you expected.

I got one when they first came out - it had a component problem as the haft connecting carriage front wheels to the horses yoke was a tiny toothpick and all wrong.
In fact the picture they used and seem to still be using was a conversion using the haft from the Black Coach.

I had a long running 'discussion' with Mail Order about it, until they finally sent me the Black Coach bits - it still needed work as the front wheels were then on a different level to the rear ones ..........

.... not a kiy I'd recommend unless someone confirms they have updated the kit.

As mentioned above it is a solid metal kit with the sides and top completing a 'box' - if you left the top off it would somewhat weaken the structure.

You would be better off finding a base with wheels and building with plasticard or balsa wood in my opinion.

You mean they will be using Ouija boards instead of Tarot cards for their business plans from now on?

I am not sure which model your talking about, your link just puts me on GW home page, but I reckon you must be talking about the mordheim stagecoach, I have 2 and no they are not conducive to modification, a 50$ a pop they make a better stagecoach than anything else. For the same amount of money you could get a lion chariot, death cart and several other pieces a kit bash a really neat war altar and have lots of interesting and neat bits left over.  I hope this opinion helps, whatever you decide be sure to post pictures of work in progress (wip).
Good luck steveb

Yeah it's the stage coach, think i'll pass and just go for the standard WAlter with a few Ulrican tweeks.
