When much younger, in my teens, I read of this ship battle. If it wasn't for this article, might never have read anything about it again, and probably what I can recall might have not ever been.
The sea battle was the last of any significance at the end of WW2 in the Pacific theater. It was the only time that the largest battle ship of the Japanese Navy
Yamoto engaged U.S. ships, and after taking heavy losses (3 heavy cruisers sunk, others dmaged) the Japanese ships returned to port, and did not leave again for open water the rest of the war.
