Thanks for all the comments!

Also, do you actually have a model on a carpet wearing a panda cloak rufus?

Sadly, no.

Its understandable, like honest mercenary captains they spent most of the time running off the board...

You know, I think we got the rules for those two gold spells wrong. They were supposed to last one turn, not remain in play.

Yeah, I was thinking about that on the way home actually, and forgot to check it out, I'll claim the victory by default then

I think a 5k battle for our first in 8th ed might have been hoping for a lot  :biggriin: :::cheers:::

Sorry about that. In my defence, those were FR1DAY's spells!

Nice report. Like the pictures!

I also like your squid banner a lot. For some reason, reminds me of the greyjoys in GRRM's books.

I check the BRB this morning and they do only last one turn. Sorry about that.

Good report Rufus, like the photos and have forgiven you for the generals pikes running.

I also think 5k was hopeful for a first game but it did through up a lot of situations it might have taken three or four games to come up.

I looking forward to playing again.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

Things moved along reasonably quickly for the size of the game too. And also, it was fun.

Incidentally I'm playing Finlay tomorrow, so expect another photo report soon. My list is pretty similar to this one, but with the halfling death-chicken rider added in.

I think we missed out on a couple of things, like the dwarven pikes testing for terror when they got charged by the innefectial giant chicken griffon so its a learning curve all round.

I am hoping to get in another big scrap with Padre soon, this time, the power of the beard will be unleashed as I take my dwarves to see how awesome they are in 8th.

Oh yeah. My Mercenary Army is mustering its companies, and they're starting to look good. In the real world, I am re-basing and repairing old figures so that they go together a little better. Here is my ridiculous 49 (7 by 7) pike regiment:

I can't wait to field this army. For Myrmidia and the state of 'x'.

Ah, I am not greedy. I get 5 ranks now, though I would get 6(surely) in a horde formation*!!!! But I have a chance of maintaining steadfast against many units, like expensive dwarfs.

* Fight in two ranks (like everyone), plus the three extra ranks pikes get = 5 ranks. With horde = 6 ranks. Yes? No? I am now not sure.

Oh, and my mortars will shoot back so there!

The dwarfs still caused fear when they were charged. Therefore, no terror test.

I thought I had dispelled that by then? And they still suffer terror, just not the later fear effects dont they? Ah I cant remember now, too many rules editions stuffed into my poor brain.

Assuming you're the one taking the pictures here

I'm saddened that you don't remember what I look like.

Of course I still remember! It's not like that new fangled Eurobash-thingamajabby was the first time you went around shirtless in a setting with other WHFB players!  :icon_wink:

I only entertained the probability that you, as poster of this report, had intentionally left out all pictures of yourself, perhaps because they were not squid-like enough! :icon_lol:

All terror does now is cause a panic test when the terror-causer charges. And you dispelled the fear spell in the magic phase, after charging. I still had a fear test, of course, but that was easy enough on Ld 9 anyway.

Good point! You wouldn't easily forget something that traumatic.

I kept my shirt on this time, to the great relief of all. I wanted to take it off though! I do my best warhammering while shirtless.

I just wasn't in any of the pictures.
