Is there a 'female' word for General??
I'm partial to "M'lady" or the occasional "Most Beautiful One" and of course, "Rules B*tch" has a nice ring to it, or so its been said.
Seriously though, from a stand point of modern English and the etymology of the word, General is gender neutral. As a Noun meaning "commander of an army" is 1570s shortening of
captain general, from the French
capitaine général. The title
generalissimo (1620s ?) is from Italy, superlative of
generale, from orgin similar to the Frech source of the word. Basically the bloke that was "generaly" in charge of eveything
Someone with knowldge of French or Italian might know if the words may be genderized. I don't think so, but oth languages have stronger gendering than English and I speak neither. Of course, if you want to be really Imperial about it, you need the German... althouh I doubt Reiksmarshal has a female form.
So, "Queen-Princess of The Universe" will have to suffice.
