I like the Griffon, I think it has a great, very dynamic pose. But there's no arguing taste I suppose.

Still, taste aside, I think the level of detail is simply amazing, epecially considering this is a starter set. The skull pass models are propably hiding in shame right now.

Maybe it's the angle, but it looks like it has really huge chicken legs.

Chickens aside, I am reminded of the 4th edition box set. Which I thought was great at the time. So, nostalgia points!

I wonder if there's an elf tower or anything in the box too.

Those dwarfs should certainly be ashamed.

Those Skaven look excellent!

Together with the 7th ed releases, they are one of GW's best lines currently. Good stuff.

Balls. I want that griffin now i've seen it. The box would be very good if it didn't have standards and stuff. Makes them hard to use multiple times.

Have already agreed to split the box 50% with someone so I can have the skaven.
Curse you and your ability to stay within the lines.

I agree that the griffon has good details and a dynamic pose.  But, something about him just seems...funny.  Probably the chicken legs.  :icon_lol:

Sigh.  Now I have to pick up the Skaven Armybook and begin my evil descent into the rats.  But, I'm curious if it comes with terrain as cool as the ones in the BFSP box.

I promised myself I wouldn't get the starter set this time, that I'd be happy just with the BRB. Unfortunately, it now looks like I will be buying the boxed set. Warp fire throwers and rat ogres? I should say so.

Hate the griffon though

Now with the reality of arthritis setting in ...

You got it too? I'm very much on the start of a slippery slope, to use a metaphor that might seem somewhat worrying to those sufferers of arthritis.
it is indeed a pain, if I plan to paint before 8 in the morning, I have to soak my hands in hot water to work out the arthritis swelling and pains and to limber them up.  getting old......it is not for the young.  steveb

The griffon is shocking.

Which is a real shame - as that could made Empire players happy everywhere.  :-(

But the chicken legs make the promising start of a cockatrice.  As rufus said before me.

Indeed. And that Warpfire Thrower plus the tip of that oversized cattle prod of the Master Moulder will hopefully make a really nice Warp Grinder conversion. Now, if only there was a way of getting some nice looking Night Runners... *sigh* I just don't want to spoil my beautiful army with the old monkey rats.

Anyone have any good ideas concerning that? How can I make nice Night Runners without going wild with the greenstuff?

I'd like to see the griffon in person before getting too bent.  As is it looks much better than the 6th metal one for the Elector Count (General of the Empire now...)  Compared to the printed cardboard one in 4th, its pretty sweet.  Just sayin.

The skaven are amazing.  All that talk about selling my rats on that other thread is going out the window...

I've had an email from GW today suggesting HE are getting a revamp in October.

Are we sure exactly what is in the new starter box, and what may be previews of new HE models.

All the pics I linked were definitely from the starter box. As to the HE wave in October, no armybook. But Harry has hinted at plastic kits for Phoenix Guard, White Lions, Dragon Princes and some metal characters.

Having heard nothing but girlish squeals of glee from the local SPEs since the advent of 8th, I can only be thrilled to hear of a "revamp".  Maybe GW will screw them up.  :)

Personally I think they were from the starter set.  But, tbh we can't decide until it comes out.  Also, isn't White Dwarf doing a big thing on the starter set this month?  Or upcoming month?  Sorry, I don't keep up with White Dwarf.
