On the subject of the shields, the square top on does tie in with the shape of the bulls head, - I mean in a sense of triangle shape with the 'point/chin' at the bottom so there is a certain symmetry.

You put it into words, the thing I really couldn't figure out what i didnt like about the round one. Square it is

Boring to paint 12 shields indeed.

So I painted the spearmen that I have. Note to self is to line them up before you paint and base them...

I'm a few spearmen short. Have two extra painted so 4 more will make it 6x4(with fillers) which would be ok for now.

So I give you spearmen of ostland

So made another little progress, 10 out of 14 handgunners painted. I will probably end up doing a little bit of wall-theme for these as well one finished.

Really like the old sculpts, the metal feels nice to paint

Yes I agree, also nice to just mix in some crazy mordheim miniatures. However they are quite expensive some time

Hehe I know, first picture was a bit screwed. I tried making the picture better but ended up making it more green ..

They are actually gw. Think they came like 1992, not sure though since I was just 3 years old

^ I think those gunners are from the late 90's. They came with one of the starter sets from about '99-'00 [I think]

Aren't there some metals in there too? Either way, the plastic hand gunners were also sold on sprues with spearsmen in a small box as well as the starter kit for 6th edition (Empire vs. Orcs).
