Warhammer-Weib's painting venture - Thank you!

:biggriin:On the right, one of my very first (and very poor) painting attempts. On the left, the first new dwarf:

That was a plan? I must have missed the memo. Sorry about that, but I'm not moving it! (barring a sufficient bribe)

Salvatore will teach me how to sculpt rolling pins and saucepans in January. So I will finally be able to put your idea into practice.

So I've got four weeks to find 30 pretty (!) female dwarf minis to start with (similar to the dwarf queen, but not so expensive because I need so many of them). If anyone of you has any suggestions, send me the link, and I'll do my best to sculpt saucepans and rolling pins for them to build up a female elite unit and post pictures of our progress.

Oh, and of course, Midaski is right: I wish I had painted the dwarf queen! In fact, Salvatore gave it to me as a Christmas present yesterday (there's no way Santa Claus can top this! I'm sorry, Fandir.) But I will do my best to reach this level and post pictures of my progress here once in a while.

Me too!!!!

Look at the details. Salvatore did such a great job! If I reach this level in ... let's say ... ten years, I'll be more than happy. In the meantime, she'll be the general of my army and I'll do my best to improve my painting skills.

Work in progress ...

Blondbeard is my favourite. I especially like his arm.

As a beginner, I still find it difficult to reach the same level though - see Bluecape.

I am not really satisfied with the blue cape. How can I make it look more natural?

Nice figs :)

Why did you edit the original text?  :icon_eek:

I was just about to thank you for your comment.

Besides, I found this very helpful painting tutorial on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdB4EF_ZvDM&feature=related How to paint cloaks (part 1)

And someone tried to explain to me how to improve the cape:

Use Enchanted Blue, Enchanted Blue 2:1 Ghostly grey and so on until you reach pure Ghostly grey, make at least 4-5 shades, patience is the secret and remember: Blue is one of the most easy colours to paint :)

Not for me, apparently ...  ... but I'll try to improve it tomorrow.

Thank you very much for your help!

Well, I got the - now obviously wrong - impression, that you are one of those people, that leave the good advice lying under the table. So I erased it, since I wrongly assumed you didn't want it.  It's your personal paint blog after all and I felt I was trolling.

But you read it and all is good.

I'm glad I had read it before you edited your post.

In fact, it wasn't a rhetorical question. I am really trying to improve my painting skills, and I was quite surprised that I got only one answer in a forum full of fantastic painters.  :?

So thanks again for bothering to answer a newbie question, Darius!
