War Wagon as Steam Tank?
« on: April 28, 2012, 12:18:35 PM »
With some conversions such as sticking a cannon on the war wagon, would this be accepted in GW stores? Since my army in Stirland, I don't want to much in the way of flashy stuff, the limit atm being a hellblaster but I've been thinking of other ways of branching out and this is one of my ideas.

I see no reason why they wouldn't accept it - it is a GW model, it is clear what it is (if you say so before the game) and it is not a current army list entry being used as something else (for example, you are not fielding a hurricanum as a steam tank) and so should not cause confusion.

I was thinking of something similar, fielding Mydas the Mean's paychest as a hurricanum. After all my army are basically mercenaries, and what's going to make a mercenary hit harder better than knowing they'll get paid soon.

That's what I did..

And I made the "Steam Tank" part removable, so I could still put alternate inserts (not finished yet) in for use as an actual war wagon or war altar as well.

I see no reason GW should turn it away. It's one of their models, and I've seen other creative uses of old models featured on their webpage or WD before.

Brilliant idea Zero, I've just pick on up and in the process of stripping it. Might have to "borrow" that idea

It doesn't have to be a like-for-like replacement. So long as your opponent knows what the model represents I don't think it would matter whether every feature of the original is replicated.

You could always add the old crew member with the blunderbuss as a " equivalent to"

Actually, that's exactly what I've done... except he's been in a half painted state for probably about a year. I've only used that wagon-tank in one three round "cheese fest" tournament. Someday I will finish him.

It looks awesome, but I would make the cannon part a bit more mobile. I mean in reality that cannon would break away from its fixing when fired. A naval-like support would be better imo.

Now that you mention that, I see the problem. But I will just imagine that the entire cart gets rolled back 10', dragging the terrified horses with it, and the structural problem is solved in my mind.  :icon_biggrin:

I donīt know you could always say the steam pressure doesnīt cause a backlash like an explosion would.

Its magic.

Well, he does have a few Laws of Motion named after him.... the third, in particular, may be relevant in this case.  :-)

Pft, physics? The Warhammer Universe laughs at your so-called physics, sir! Physics is what happens to other universes!
