Nice one john, I've been waiting ages to see units of these painted up properly.

I like the colour scheme, it's very different and has a ghostly look to it. Works well. :)

thanks guys. yeah i am indeed using them as part of my VC army. Unfortunatly i found out about mantic when i had already purchased a larg part of my army from GW. but i couldnt resist the chance to bulk up my VC with these, 40 more skeles for a GOOD price. I still like some GW stuff more than mantics, like thier version of the grave guard im not too keen on...but i may just have to push my GW army aside and build a 90% mantic army hehe. I do plane and have already purchased an Elven army from them...just waiting for delivery.... :)

as for the color scheme, i new when i started VC that i wanted something different than the normal black/red and sometimes purple that i see. I wanted something that was dark and eerie , without screaming evil i.e. red/black/purple...

Id be happy to show more of my army im just not sure it would fit in with the Empire forum hehe

It's not going to offend me.

Their skeletons match up pretty well with the new GW ones, although the Mantic skulls look a bit smaller, and that's saying something as GW reduced the size of the skulls from their previous version as well.

true, but that was unavoidable as Mantic uses true scale and GW doesnt.  :icon_rolleyes:

Not very Ancient Egyptian though!

OMG!!!

RANTALARM

Tomb kings are not ancient egyptian. the basis for tomb kings came from both ancient egypt and Mesopotamia.

Furthermore, heavy cav are fine. yes a little low on the armor save, but given what they are based from, the armor level is appropriate.

Now, don't get me wrong, even though the TK army (which I now have 3k of -my first three thousand point army) is based off of those two nations, they have thier own distinct feel. To stop this post going on too long, I will refrain from posting my essay on the subject.

Also, please do not call tomb kings "khemri". Khemri is one city out of nine. It is a misnomer I hate teaching people about.

END RANT ALARM...........for now.

I really like that fig. My problem is that it looks more like it should be in the Dark Age miniatures game instead of either the Mantic or GW's undead armies. Awesome fig though. They've also got a really nice red dragon for their Elf army coming out soon. I'm really tempted to pick one up to make a nice Karl Franz conversion.

Really nice skellies there! I think I will start making a VC army based on mantic minitatures in time. Fact is their ghouls looks a bit like I want my batshit insane and raging peasants too look!

Mogsie said I should do a undead peasant rebellion/revenge army. I figured ghouls would really be prefect to represent really angry and pissed of peasants, who are feed up with being hungry and bullied and will no longer balk at anything to get serious payback!
Back with some skellies and graveguard, yeah, there will be gore for the nobles!
Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!

So, in fact, they are.

That's the most pointless rant I've seen since Mathi's last one.

Hmmm ... what might be neat would be to have an army with figures that look like those guys when they were alive, but I get it that its an army that looks like those guys after they're dead.

Actually, if I recall correctly, Soth has a 15mm army of ancient egyptians, so I suppose one could just go with historicals.

If I was a tomb king player, I'd likely take pride in helping folks learn.  Otherwise I wouldn't teach. :icon_wink:
