Well we have seen the models now .................

........... Has anyone actually confirmed that there is a mini rulebook in there     :engel:

I would be so pissed if there wasn't one.   :icon_lol:
If there is not, I won't be buying the 8th edition starter set anytime soon, if ever.

Sharing a box will get a bit difficutl, the skaven and elves are all mixed up on the sprues, so you can't just swap some sprues wiith anybody. No problem to sit down with a friend and take themm all out of the sprue together, but there will be less half boxes on ebay than i thought.
No big deal.  I used snippers to divide one set of 40K SM and Orks, so I suspect the same can be done for HE and Skaven.

Those Seaguard are awesome, way better than the current spearmen.
I like the reavers too, the champion reminds me of the mounted general from Grudge of Drong.
Skaven are a good as ever, love the poisen mortar thingy.

Shame the swordmasters as a bit meh.
Might have to get a set now.  damn you GW and realesing a nice WFB starter set!

I can't get behind this starter set, I'm afraid. Call me prejudiced, but I hate the Skaven. I hate their models, I hate their fluff*, and I hate their tactics.

If I was playing a demo of Warhammer as the High Elves and got gunned down by skaven magic and artillery(the only way Skaven can win) I'd never want to play ever again.

*"Hurr, the Skaven have tunnels EVERYWHERE and constantly attack EVERYONE and no one believes they exist even though the Dwarfs, Empire, Bretonnians, Tileans, and the Wood Elves have fought multiple long wars against them!"

I was the same. But the new models for 7th / 8th changed my mind (about the models anyway)

I agree this is one of the stupidest pieces of fluff around them.

I wouldn't take it too seriously, it seems that it is more a gimmick for the race instead of what is actually believed.

New plastic HE will be White Lions, Dragon Princes and Phoenix Guard so no new spear or archers (not odd really, as the metal is the first being replaced). Two metal boxes will also appear but no news of the content, as well as two blisters, one with the prince on the gryphon on foot. (taken from Warseer).

Sometimes you get the odd idiot though... Just makes you want slap them for their ludicrousness.

What about Silver Helms - how are these affected with new Reavers and new Dragon Princes?

Perhaps you should write up your opponents list for him. That way, it will be something nice and easy.

And you obviously don't know very much about Skaven if you think that magic and arty is the only way to win for them...

They are not!

I heard a rumour from an ex-gw staffer that the new Dragon Knights were going to be multi-kitted to make new Silverhelms as well. Any idea on how accurate this could be?

Harry over at Warseer claimed Dragon Princes, but I really hope you are right.

From my sources, I have heard nothing except new knights (not which one).

Well GW makes a few multi-purpose kits. Nearly all the empire stuff, bell, helfspear/sea guard, delf RXbowmen/spearmen. I'd love it if they did an executioner/black guard kit.

I sort of like the fluff for the Skaven.  I wouldn't want to use the army now (too many horde armies) but if I was just coming in, I think  I would think about it.  Love the cool page on the 8th edition book showing the skaven weapons.

This is my fear (as I need some more of those steed bodies)...

Overall though, should be good, as most don't like the current steeds.

It just occured to me that I actually considered both HE and Skaven as my starting army coming back into the hobby.

Also gave some thought to Bretonnia.

Really glad I decided on the Empire. :::cheers:::
