First game played High elves vs Vampire counts
Mathi Alfblut:
So I finally played my first game of Old World. My High elves were besten by the Vampire counts. However, thanks to y Phoenix Guards and BSB doing their level best to teamcarry the rest of my army it turned into a defeat rather than a crushing defeat. And had his lv4 necromancer and General not being able to evade them (stupid rule!) it would have been a draw.
I had managed to kit out my Phoenix Guard with the Battle banner (D3 extra combat resolution) enabled them to grind through 50+ of zombies showed to me that static combat resolution is once more really important.
Dazgrim:
When you say stupid rule, which rule are you referring to?
Mathi Alfblut:
Well, he could evade my oncoming and overrunning phoenix guard following a charge that had destroyed a corpse cart in ine go.
He passed a leadership test and was able to flee out of the way. His Acolyte failed his leadership test and was caught by ny unit.
Dazgrim:
I was not aware that was a rule.
Warlord:
Evade is actually a decent rule. Allows the idea of characters outside of units being safe from overruns - used to be common with wizards back in 6th and 7th to run then on the edges of units rather than in them.
