First "30mm" Sculpt Attempt
« on: April 24, 2010, 05:57:59 PM »
Whilst I was baking/burning my cyborg bust I decided to knock up a quick 30mm armature and get cracking on a practice sculpt. Well the armature was 30mm perfect, i posed it and put some putty on it to provide some support underneath for the super sculpey. I must admit i spent more time trying to get putty to stick to the goddamn wire than i actually did sculpting and that is no word of a lie. Furthermore i cocked up the armatures arms, wrapping wire in a random fashion caused me some problems with bulky shoulders too far forward as you will see in the photo below. So I am putting this one down to experience, sorry the photos are not great.... its not finished yet of course, one hand to do and the arm (will cut that milliput off).

This was just a random idea of a group of super villains from DC, i ended up chosing the Joker of course and changed it about a bit - this is "The Clown", a failed stand up comic who now wears a creepy mask and holds up fast food chains to make some easy cash and scare unruly kids.

Go easy on it, its gonna get thrown in a box next week never to see daylight again. Oh yeah forgot to say it ended up being 35mm somehow. Only Jesus knows how.

That's great man.  Not much else to say really.  I think you pulled off the comic book villain look pretty well. It would probably be good for a Heroclix kind of game (I think those work out to about 30-32mm).  You sure the extra 5 mm isn't just the fro?

Cheers fella. Well, a 7' clown is plausible but I think i did the armature 30mm to the top of the skull so there is probably a couple of mm on the fro wig but there is some creep from elsewhere to.

The next 30mm will be a practice run to, not sure what to try, any ideas welcomed. My own ideas are maybe some monsters for D&D and other RPG games that are around humanoid size. But I also like the idea of doing an armoured knight of sorts. Ideas welcomed.
