A New Heroquest Eh....
« on: September 24, 2020, 09:11:53 AM »
So it seems Hasbro is making a new version of Heroquest. Looks promising though all the GW bits have gone, Fishmen in place of Fimir isn't quite the same but still.

But not shipping abroad, if I read the shipping policy correctly.

Yeah which I found odd given Heroquests very large fan base world wide. I wonder if it is just the logistics that Hasbro has set up for their normal funding things and didn't really consider the international appeal of Heroquest.

I think this is something they've done in the past.  The initial release is North America and then anything subsequent will be worldwide.

Not that I would have bought it, but I hate the World of Warcraft comic-esque design of everything. I can't understand why that is the predominant fantasy style these days.

I really only thought the Orcs and Goblins fell into that trap here. The character pieces are pretty close to the originals at least from an artwork stand point.

Yeah, but they put up some small letters, that they may look different when released...

I'm not much of a fan of the style of it either.  I was really thinking about getting it until it was launched.

I've been tempted, but resisting.  Got so many projects going, and some that are just sitting there and not happening.

I bit, have a college buddy who always wanted to play as a kid but long crappy story never did, felt need to have the new version for a board game night sometime.

Probably will use some proper GW styled Orcs, Chaos Warriors, and Fimir though.

I have some good memories of playing HQ at a friend's cottage as a kid in the 90's. I wonder if it's really aged well as far as mechanics etc go. Sometimes things are better off as hazy pleasant memories.

And why does a company as big as Hasbro need to use Kickstarter?

Meh why does EA have to have pre-orders. This at least gauges the interest in a nostalgic dungeon crawler than spring it on the populace and see.

It depends on what you're after.  If you want a very simple dungeon crawl it's still fun.  But I've played it with people that wanted more rules out of it and it got boring quick.  Depends on the audience.

I’m thinking if pulling out my copy and play with the kids soon.
