the film was pretty crap really, it's shocking it was written by JK, there are a lot of canon-busters and continuity goofs.

too many new characters, sub plots etc.

Some of my workmates tried to download a copy of the new Grinch movie but wound up getting the 'wrong' version :icon_redface: due to a typo

To clarify; it wasn't a family friendly version.

Finally saw Black Panther. I quite liked it. The villain was very compelling and the story was very well done. My favorite character was M'Baku

Am I the only one who thinks its funny that there are now so many super hero movies about 2nd and 3rd tier characters. 20 years ago, the concept of Antman, Black panther and Aqua man movies was laughable

I heard people are walking out of Homes and Watson. It must be pretty bad. I don't think I'll go see it now

The trailers looked god awful. Apparently Netflix won't buy it from Sony.

I wound up seeing Bumblebee. I would describe it as '80's nostalgia porn'.
I also wound up renting a copy of Solo from a rentbox. I really don't know what to make of it.

Its sci fi movie that happens to feature the millenium falcon.

I agree with this. I thought it was quite a fun little sci fi heist movie that I only remembered was a star wars movie half way through. I'd watch it again just as a sci fi heist. Although I did really like Lando.

I meant to post this earlier but my laptop crashed.

Though I tried to like Solo; I found the self referential humour too much, the counter betrayals too numerous and the cinematography too dark.

There were a lot of betrayals.
I dont remember much of the humour.
Cinematography was dark in the maw and on the battle planet. Rest was ok?

Personally I hated the maw monster. It was added in by ron howard to help give scale to the maw. There are better, more old school star trekkie ways to add scale IMO.

I referred to the maw monster as 'The thing from Deep Rising' somewhere else.
And, for what its worth; the martial arts Emma Clarks character uses is from a video game that is still hated 20-something years later.

Saw Green Book. Best movie I have seen in a while. Very satisfying.

Watched Annihilation on Netflix.

eh, it was ok. Definitely not as good as the other films in "thought experiment Sci Fi" that I've really enjoyed lately (Her, Blade Runner 2049, Arrival)

It definitely didn't stick with me in the same way, or make me think/talk about it after, it seemed to be fairly straightforward?

Pretty good performance from Natalie Portman and some cool visual effects.

I watched They Shall Not Grow Old. One of my coworkers is a fanatic about it. Tells everyone who will listen its the greatest thing he's ever seen. I'm... less enthused. Its fine, a totally good war documentary and I like the whole "Through their own voice" kind of gimmick. Some of the footage is also really interesting. That said, I thought it was just another war documentary. It didn't particularly stick with me, but that might just be me.

There was also some weird moments (That are somewhat understandable considering EVERYTHING is coming from letters and diaries from the troops) where things seem to jump around. There's not much context at times and they don't always tell you what part of the war they're talking about.

But to see some remastered footage that's more then a hundred years old its really impressive.

I'm not a fan of the genre, and this wasn't a good example.

The colored over film seems to bring it into a different light, although no less powerful.  There is something quite good about the black and white turning into to color in the preview seen, and hoping for more of that when I see the film.

Just saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2. 2017 is current, right? Anyway, it was OK but tried too hard to be cute.

Blade Runner 2049 was sick.

I also like the Newt character, but don't like the obsession to make everything intertwine so much between the main HP series and this.
That is my main complaint of star wars canon too.
I clapped because I know what that is.
I agree with the inhumane treatment of animals.
