A lot of really nice painting here! My favourites are the outriders - the bull's head on the drum gives the whole unit a perfect focal point. Genius!

I also like your unexpected colour combinations.

That's a very nicely painted Grandmaster.

And in answer to your question.  I'd say probably not, the reason being that the Knights of the Blazing Sun are Templars of Myrmydia, and the Twin-Tailed Comet is a symbol of Sigmar.  Though, that seems to have eluded GW's own design team, as they slap it on everything, including the Garden of Morr, along with the odd skull or 5000.

Thanx.

Yes, that part of fluff I know, but is there  in the iconography of Myrmidia nothing that could relate to this image? I could paint it like a cannon ball for example or a magic orb or something.

Annd isn't the cult of Sigmar somehow the officila religion of the Empire, so even the grandmaster of a different order has to aknowledge that when  his knights are being employed for a greater cause - a crusade led by an archlector of Sigmar for example?

The common iconography for Myrmidia would be the blazing sun, the spear or the eagle

Yes, the official religion of the Empire is Sigmar, but in my mind really only the nobility and soldiers would be dedicated followers, ordinary citizens would more likely be praying to Taal, Rhya and Morr, even Ulric more frequently, though they'd ackowledge and pray to each god on their particular holy days.  Certain areas of the Empire such as Middenland and the northern states, the soldiers would be as likely to follow Ulric.  And since those two cults while not openly hostile, are not exaclty cordial to each other, so I doubt a Knight of the White Wolf would ever have a comet, nor would a Sigmar worshipper have a wolf.  Templars to a deity would almost exclusively use their own god's icons, at least in my opinion.

So...Maybe you could convert that comet into something more like a sun?  Maybe with a spear tip going through it?

Also, off-topic ish, a particular beef I have.  I don't like they way the Arch Lector has been downgraded in the fluff, they seem to be on a par with Grandmasters and Generals and Wizard Lords, when they should be special characters at the level of Elector Counts - there are only two of them Arch Lector Kaslain of Nuln and Arch Lector Aglim of Talabheim, and Imperial Electors in their own right - hence the name Arch Lector, though that impleis there are normal Lectors, of which there are, but If I dig out my WFRP sourcebooks this post could get long.  And it does say the The War Altar of Sigmar, not A War Altar of Sigmar.

Very nice TGM! Can't wait to see how you will match the horse's barding with his armour.

But I don't understand the blade of his axe - what is going on there?

Pegasus, not eagle, from what I have read. And the symbol is also a spear behind a shield - you could trim the comet tails and resculpt them into some kind of halo, and then drill through the orb at an angle and insert a piece of wire, glue on a little spear tip (or flatten the wire) and voila! A spear behind a haloed shield when seen from either side.

NIce, some good ideas here. I have other bits, I'll shuffle through them and see what fits the best with the fluff. I Still don't know what does that naked maiden with wings and a skull mask, who holds the sune in the hands represent.

Well, I wouldn't call a woman with that figure a "maiden" - that looks more "mother" to me (following the old threefold rule). I suspect it is just a generic representation of a goddess of some kind. KotBS are Myrmidia followers, but I am not sure if that wasn' added to the fluff after the model was sculpted - fluff was very fast and loose in the early days, and it might have just been "voluptous winged chick with a skull face holding a sun? AWESOME!"

I think the maiden/mother is Myrmidia. Even if it was not the intention behind the sculpt, it is a suitable interpretation.

A few sources I was looking at while deciding whether or not to base my army on her worship. From these sources it does seem an eagle is one of her symbols (She can turn into one, so I imagine her followers would see the animal as sacred.) So are the shield, spear, sun and maiden/woman.

And Kate Beckinsale..... :closed-eyes:

Kate Beckinsale is the primary focus of worship in the Warhammer world. It was a kiss from her that gave Sigmar his power, and her anger at chipping a nail which manifests as Khaine.

Ok, I changed the horse completely, the older one now belongs to the reikmarshall, GM gets this one, the headplate is decorated with an eagle icon as a primary simbol of the godess. The rest of the horse has a very standard look.

Where did the headpiece come from? I'm guessing Tomb Kings? which model?

If i can get some, I might steal this idea with your permission.

No, it's from the high elf chariot kit. It's the icon that comes to the frontside of the chariot.

Only, if you promise that you will make the whole unit of KotBS with them. I would do that If I was doing htem now. :engel:

D'oh, was gonna use them on my Myrmidia War altar horses :P I have three different knightly orders in the works, but KotBS aren't one of them >< (Color clashes with my army color scheme.)

Might be a while till i got any anyway. I imagine those bits are kinda hit or miss finds on Ebay.

You might be surprised .... well, maybe not on eBay, but I reckon there are going to be a LOT spare out there. That component is used on the WE chariot, and is replaced with the lion head detail. Many HE players field the Lion Chariot rather than the Tyranioc chariot, and so will have the piece spare.

Find a HE forum and ask the players.

Alterantively, hit up anvalous http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?action=profile;u=7809 He has made an entire Lion themed army, and he said somewhere in this thread http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=33507.0 he bought a load of the chariots. He's only used the lion parts so far as I can see . . . . He might have a bunch of those to sell / trade.

Or find just one and press-mold-copy-multiply it.

I decided to continue the Blazing sun theme and start the Myrmidia WP, who will join the KotBS  unit. I haven't decided yet if I should convert this horse's headpiece too or shall I leave it like it is.

Looking good. You should get some of the eagle shields from the soldiers of the Empire kit and use them for your leaders / priests. Are you going to swap the weapon out with something else, or leave it as a hammer?

I haven't decided on the shields yet -both GM and WP - , but the hammer stays, it looks badass enough and WP will be a more dynamic figure than the rest of the gang.

Not sure about hte colors, armour - WP gold maybe and cloth purple, horse's armour black....

I used the shield from Lorenzo lupo for my KoBS, it has myriadima on it. I can send you on as I have 10 or so spare from my unit.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!
