Hi all got pretty bored at work so did up a themed scenario.
« on: November 18, 2004, 07:44:41 PM »
Would like some suggestions/help as I have about 5 more done up.  Took my most simple idea and put it down on paper.

Defend the Heir
As the sound of mortars rocked threw the night Baron Von Llewesk called out for Captain Josef Lieberson, leader of his personal guard. “Josef, you have been my personal guard for along time but tonight I must ask you to leave my side and do my house a great favour.  Take my eldest son Mikal and flee to Castle Drakon.  The opposing factions have us surrounded here and it will be only time before I am captured.  Take my personal guard and the best units we have and try to breakthrough there lines here near the forests edge.”  Just then the sound of trumpets flared and calls to arms could be heard throughout the encampment.  The Baron placed his large hand on Josef’s Shoulder and spoke with the urgency only a doomed man could know off.  “Josef, from tonight forward you will be protecting the new Baron Von Llewesk, guide him to safety!  Now be off before those scum dogs reach our camp.  My forces here will buy you enough time so your rear echelon will not be endangered.”  Then the Baron grabbed his mace and shield and proceeded out of the tent.

Armies-Attacking side receives 1 bonus model with rules and descriptions below.  Point’s values for the armies are equal.

Battlefield-The battlefield can be set up following normal rules for terrain set up.

Deployment- Armies deploy as normal except for attackers final model which is “The Heir”.  This model deploys last over all and can be placed inside any NON-SCOUTING/NON-FLYING unit or may be fielded alone.

Who goes first.-Determine as per normal rules except ignore “The Heir” model for the bonus on who finished deploying first.

Special Rules-“The Heir” can either be mounted on a warhorse or placed inside a unit.  “The Heir” does not have to be placed in the front rank of the unit.  “The Heir” cannot issue nor accept challenges nor can be targeted with CC attacks while inside a unit with rank and file troopers still alive.  For all purposes “The Heir” is exactly like rank and file troopers except he can leave the unit when the player wishes.  The Unit may not use “The Heir”s LD for any tests. “The Heir” must be escorted off the opposing player’s deployment zone in a unit with US 5 or greater.
“The Heir” Statline
M   WS   BS   S   T   A   W   I   LD
4                  4   3   3   3   1                    1   4   7
Equipment: Hand weapon, Shield, Heavy armor.

Victory Points
Attacker- Does not get bonus points for table quarters (But can contest table quarters).  Gets Victory Points for the escorting unit’s current value plus 200 points for “the Heir”.

Defender-Victory points as per normal plus 150 points for killing “the Heir” or 100 Points for keeping “the Heir” from leaving through his deployment zone.

Unless you are a tactician, or someone official (ehich you maybe, Ill go check later or you can just tell me :) )You are not really suppossed to put that.Plus, if you are official, you have to wait until we tacticians get a special forum where no one else can see it.Other than those things, thats a pretty good scnario. :-D

Hey, suggestions are always welcome! I kinda like this one as it illuminates "the little noble" that always gets screwed over when the big boys fight among themselves :-D

I think we might set up a central email address for the campaign team (to collect battle results, for instance) - we might also use that as an "idea box" to gather suggestions.

So... 5 more eh?

The scenario lends itself to a sex change and perfect fit for Gen H.

The 'Heiress'

You could play a 'gold rush' scenario: sit Henriette/Harriet/Horseface, or whatever you called her 'Mon General' on a treasure chest in the centre of the board and all factions can race to possess her.

Actually, that begs the question, is this fresh faced 12-year old likely to bloom into a beautiful princess, because both my Middenheim and Kislev Force Commanders have strapping sons waiting to be 'introduced' to a comely wench, particularly if she's also got money .....................

I'm partial to "M'lady" or the occasional "Most Beautiful One" and of course, "Rules B*tch" has a nice ring to it, or so its been said.

Seriously though, from a stand point of modern English and the etymology of the word, General is gender neutral. As a Noun meaning "commander of an army" is 1570s shortening of captain general, from the French capitaine général. The title generalissimo (1620s ?) is from Italy, superlative of generale, from orgin similar to the Frech source of the word. Basically the bloke that was "generaly" in charge of eveything

Someone with knowldge of French or Italian might know if the words may be genderized. I don't think so, but oth languages have stronger gendering than English and I speak neither. Of course, if you want to be really Imperial about it, you need the German... althouh I doubt Reiksmarshal has a female form.

So, "Queen-Princess of The Universe" will have to suffice.
Rules B*tch.
